Choir of the former Franciscan monastery St. Wolfgang, at present part of the Gymnasium ajoining the city wall. On the18th of October 1689 looted by French soldiers, at 2 pm arson, all churches in Bad Kreuznach were on fire. Only the late Gothic choir and a small building at the port are preserved of the entire Franciscan monastery. Through support of Prince-elector Johann Wilhelm von Pfalz first cornerstone for the convent was laid in 1700, 1715 the Friars started the reconstruction of the destroyed Church nave. A simple towerless Hall church integrated with the Gothic choir, appropriate to the Franciscan rule of poverty, completed in 1718, due to the length of the interial work the Church and the three altars were consecrated in 1727. On 2 January 1945 Destroyed by an airraid bombing, just the choir could be saved and repaired. At the April 2009 cleanup the two-piece cornerstone was discovered under a pile of ruble. Shortly after the end of the war construction workers found the cornerstone under the debris and the inscripted stones were deposited in a cellar of today's high school on the city walls, hidden under other "deposits" the stones were forgotten and got into oblivian. The two-piece cornerstone for the 18th century reconstruction of St. Wolfgang Church which was destroyed during the war of the Palatine succession is on display in the choir of the church it once belonged to. The choir serves as Central Library: books of Association of urban and regional folklore. 60,000 Volumes, amongst thos a large part of literature on the Nahe region and the adjacent areas.
