now you can bike or walk for kilometeres along the seaside using this dedicated pedestrian-bike bridge with a good view on the mountain. the part of the mountain range you see from the bridge if the weather is good is called "The Sleeping Beauty".... look for long hear, calm "face" of the sleeping girl. The bridge is always full of people!
Day time or night time, on rainy days or sunny days, this bridge gives an amazing view on the ocean! The walk is right above the coast, the pavement has a light blue colour that gives you a perfect feeling. Best time would be sunset where you experience the pink sky and the bright lights of the city!
We went out to see the sights and stretch our legs before dinner. Walked down the boardwalk to this bridge, for a lovely panorama of the town and ocean. Lots of joggers, people out bicycling, grandpas walking grandsons, great people-watching. Lovely start to the evening.
The bridge is beautiful. I love the water and being by the coast. My Fiance, Chris, had me fooled! Chris hid his engagement plans with plans to visit his family in Italy. He traveled all the way from Fairfield, CT to Pescara, Italy with the antisapation and the weight of an engagement ring in his carry on luggage! There is a brige, where you can get the best view of Pescara, called Ponte del Mare. When you are at the highest point on the bridge you can see all along the coast from one side and from the other side you can look up the river towards the mountains. On the bridge people have brought locks and locked their locks on them. Chris and I went out to buy a lock and decorated it with our initials and hearts (of course). He brought me up there to lock our love lock on the bridge and throw the keys into the river that leads into the ocean. Once we locked our locks, Chris proposed and had a secret photographer near by to capture every moment!I will never forget our special engagement!
I walk or cycle over this bridge most days, and always have to stop to take in the view from the top. its spectacular. you can see all along the coast from one side, and the other looks up the river towards the mountains.Best at sunrise and sunset in my opinion, when the light is either coming up over the sea, or setting behind the mountains
This is a very interesting bridge called the Ponte del Mare which has a beautiful curved shape. It is a pedestrian and bicycle crossing, each having their own lane. It spans across the river and connects the north and south sides of the city. We walked across and enjoyed some beautiful vistas from the center of the bridge.
We were very impressed by the new bridge. Pedestrian on one side, bikes on the other. What a nice view from this bridge.
A nice bit of bridge architecture & worth going to see it especially at night for a romantic stroll.
Our family decided to walk over the bridge while visiting Pescara. The view is amazing of sea and city. It is free to walk or bike over.
Fantastic views of the port, beaches and the river while enjoying a walk from one side of Pescara to the other - NOT TO BE MISSED.Once you get to the south side, there is not much to see as the old houses on that side are in disrepair and apart from a gas pump there is nothing else there. However, if you keep walking for about 300-400 metres, you will get to the marina where a few yachts and boats are harboured. There are a couple of bars and restaurants which also serve good fish. MY SUGGESTION: either you walk or cycle to the south side and then just walk back to your starting point - don't waste your time on the south side hoping to find something interesting to see!
Built just recently - it has been opened only in 2009 -, this bridge has become rapidly a very popular Pescara's landmark among visitors and locals alike, since it affords some spectacular views of the seafront, of the city and of the mountains clearly visible far away facing towards the inland region. The bridge is located in the centre of Pescara and easily reachable, linking two promenades on the south and north of the namesake Pescara river, so in the summer season there's a lot of people transiting from one side to the other, especially at night. While the north promenade has been the more lively - besides is more conveniently placed in a more central area near the busy shopping precinct -, in the southern area are located some places of interest such as harbour Marina di Pescara - that hosts concerts, fairs and other events - the outdoor theatre teatro D'Annunzio - during the summer hosting the renowned Pescara jazz and other concerts and stage shows - and the d'Avalos, pinewood - most probably the biggest park in the Pescara's municipality -, so this bridge comes very handyfor those without a vehicle.Besides, the southern seafront area has been going for some years through a process of requalification - that is going to take some years as there is still some dispute as for some of the formely industrial areas' end use -, and the promanade itself has been newly rebuilt with plenty of space for pedestrians and cyclists and plenty of green areas, so this bridge is probably going to be strategical for the future development of the town.Utlimately, other than that, regardless of whether one needs to rech the other bank or not, I reckon this bridge is well worth a look for visitors, since it's a beautiful architectural and engineering work and is a good spot to take pictures.
A pescara experience! Best to be done in the dark to view the amazing lighting of the bridge and ofcourse some of the view over lighted Pescara and beach. Superb engineering.Well worth a visit!
To walk the bridge is a must. The view is fantastic especially at sunset. I took my best pics during this walk, connects to parts of the city.
Excellent piece of engineering! This twisted bridge offers the best views of the port seen from different angles. Closed to traffic, you can walk or cycle over it but it will be quite hard because it is a little steep. Walking to the other side is your best choice. If you want to take good pictures go at sunrise or sunset.
Nice view on the city, the harbour, the beach and mountains in the background. Busy at daytime, quiet at early morning though.
