Absolutely pretty and serene against the backdrop of Lake Comoros and mountains, I am totally captivated by the blossoming flowers. An amazing experience to appreciate by visiting it.
Amazing gardens by the lake, no roads in between. Is not possible to visit the inside of the Villa but the outside is gorgeous enough. When visiting Bellagio this is a must. Best visiting in spring time.
We visited the Melzi Gardens on an overcast day in September when most of the flowers were not in bloom, and absolutely enjoyed the experience! I believe one could visit any time of the year and fall victim to the beauty and serenity of these gardens. Many go to the Lake district to get away from the hustle and bustle of the larger cities in Italy. If this is case, you must visit these gardens which, in our minds, is one of the most tranquil settings on the lake.
This is such a beautiful part of Bellagio and one you should not miss. I've been here in every season but I have to say Spring is the best! The flowers were ALIVE and the beauty is just breathtaking. Spend time here… don't rush through it. Take a book and sit by the lake. It's a beautiful living work of art.
These are really delightful gardens set alongside the lake. Although fairly formal they have a very relaxed and informal feel to them. Villa is privately owned and not open to the public. It looks beautiful. These were probably our favourite gardens on Lake Como
Visited Melzi in Mid October. Great gardens and architecture...superb vistas of Lake Como...If staying in Bellagio you really must take the short walk to Melzi and stroll around and get lost. The property, lawns, trails, pathways, shrubs were very well maintained - much more enjoyable and much better maintained than Carlotta (in Tremezzo) or Monastera (in Varenna). (The only superior garden / tour on the Lake is Barbaniello). There is no access or tour within the villa/mansion but there is a great little church / chapel on the property. Very tranquil and peaceful. Recommend allocating 1.5 to 2.5 hours.
Don't miss this garden if you're going to Bellagio. You'll need a good couple of hours to do it justice, but it's absolutely worth it-as the hundreds of photos I took will attest when I get home!
I loved the hillside Gardens of Villa Melzi. The views of Lake Como, the family chapel, the small museum with historical artifacts, the Moorish-style temple, the statutes and landscaping. And to think, I almost didn’t visit Villa Melzi. After seeing two other gardens, (Giardini Botanici in Varenna and Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo) I thought, do I need to see another? I'm glad I did.If you are staying in Bellagio, don’t miss these elegant gardens.(A previous reviewer said there aren’t toilets available. Yes, there are toilets. Ask at the admission booth, when you are given a map of the gardens.)
i wish, like George Clooney, i too could own such a property along Lago di Como. Beautiful lawns, different trees and ofcourse the lake views make this place to die for...
Really impressive gardens, especially for any keen horticulturalist - all the plants and trees are carefully labelled and the grounds are kept immaculately. We were staying in nearby Bellagio and so were the first visitors to arrive...recommended to enjoy the tranquillity. I always like quirky architecture and there were intriguing structures here - the Moorish Temple, the family Chapel, rocky grotto and steps...there is really only one route round the garden but you always felt you were exploring and finding something new around every corner. Recommended.
The Gardens of Villa Melzi in Ballagio are fantastic, best of those we visited in lake Como and Bellagio itself is alovely location
The gardens are so beautiful with lots of different areas of plantings and lots of shady spots from which to enjoy the incredible lake view.Perhaps not spectacular, but certainly worth an hour or two. Don't just race through ... slow down and enjoy the beauty, peace and tranquility.
Beautiful gardens & statuary with grottos & conveniently placed benches to relax and take in the beauty. Especially lovely in late afternoon.
Beautiful gardens along the shores of Lake Como. There are no conveniences on the grounds. Could not find a WC anywhere and no one to ask except the person who sold you the ticket. Plus there is no tour of the villa only the grounds
it is probably the most beautiful thing to see in Bellagio.of course the town and city center is very beautiful, too but these gardens are absolutely marvelous.the entrance price is not very cheap, 6 euro/person and the gardens are closed at 18.30, so if you plan to visit it do not be late. :)
