We stumbled on this castle/museum in the little town of Grinzane Cavour, which happens to house the annual famous Truffles Auction of Italy which is held on the second Sunday in November of each year. Well worth doing the audio tour of this museum presented as though it is the Gentleman Cavour speaking of the time he spent in helping develop the famous vineyards in that area. Beautifully done. Fascinating facts about the development of the vineyards of that area. Wonderful views of the surrounding areas as you tour the castle. Charming little shop attached to the museum. Delightful, friendly staff, with no crowds. Most enjoyable tour. CLOSED ON TUESDAYS!

I took a private tour from Torino that took us to the castle of Grinzane. The entrance fee was covered by our Torino museum card. We paid one Euro for a audio guide in English, which was very helpful. The castle is a history of the area, Mr. Cavour, the areas wine, and truffles. We did not eat at the restaurant but heard it is excellent. And the wine shop was extensive. It is a good place for views of the surrounding hills. They have nice, new restrooms just down the hill on on the back side of the entrance. Overall well worth an hour or more.

All the plates were served with white truffle and a glass of assorted wine. We had a fantastic dinner there, even if a bit too rich (we were full at the end!).The castle is fantastic, up the town, service was very organised, a bit too solemn for us. I really recommand this place, even if the white truffle menu is expensive!

Excellent place to stop off to enjoy the views from the castle grounds and pop in for a coffee in one of the many cafes around the town centre.

Our guide, Alberto took us here as part of our Tour of the Piedmont area. It is located in a beautiful setting, very peaceful overlooking the vineyards and hills. The castle is well preserved and has a nice cafe and lots of wines and wine related merchandise. Glad we got to see it.

Probably one of the best castles in the Langhe, just 15 minues drive from Alba.It is perfectly maintained (icluding clean perfect toilets...), with a breath-taking view on the vineyards... you'll fill up the memory card of your camera.The museum is interesting, with a lot of information on Cavour (who played a key role in the reunion of all Italy in the 19th century) and on life in his times.Good audio-guides available for a few euros.

The title says almost everything except that there is a wine and local area museum there also. There is a fee for the wine museum. You can wander the grounds and the wine shop at no charge and if you think you can get food at a Michelin starred restaurant at no charge, you gotta stop smoking that stuff. There is a much cheaper restaurant, La Salineria, in town.

Outstanding views. Great museum about this area of Italy. Highly recommended. You learn a great deal about the wines here, how people lived in earlier times. superb

You really get a feel for the wine history of Barolo. The views are spectacular. Well worth the 5 E.We are doing dinner tonight so will review food elsewhere.

A Michelin starred restaurant shares this medieval castle with a enoteca, It originally belonged to Cavour, a central figure in the reunification of Italy and offers a beautiful view over the village and the surrounding vinyards.

Having walked the outside grounds previously, we decided to go inside this time. The castle has a few interesting exhibits, which are each handled quite well. The general idea is to enlighten visitors about the history of the castle and the development of the local wine industry. Perhaps, in this way, one might be enticed to buy (and certainly to appreciate) the barolos, nebbiolos, etc that come from this territory. In short, skip if you’re in a hurry to get somewhere, but it is useful to gain an understanding of the area’s history and preoccupation with wine and food (especially truffles).

My husband & I really enjoyed this museum. We spent several hours examining every exhibit. It provided us with a wealth of knowledge and understanding regarding the history of regional wines & truffles. It's a great way to spend a foggy fall day in Piedmonte! Don't forget to buy some wine at the enoteca!

Really good restaurant and wine shop! Home made tagliatelle, nice antipasti and perfect Vitello tonato. Also nice staff, beautiful deserts and Panna cotta.

In the past my wife and I enjoyed the fine restaurant here but could not get in this time although started trying to reserve over a month in advance. We visited the castle again anyway and enjoyed our visit to the enoteca with many fine wines to taste and to purchase.
