I am a keen and very well informed enthusiast of Renaissance architecture and design and I was absolutely staggered by Varallo- both for its intrinsic quality and the fact that I had never heard of it before. The individual chapels are exquisite, mainly late 15/early 16th century- but of greater interest to me was their arrangement around the hill and the way that one moves through the space on the complex processional route. The individual tableaux are all superb and fascinating- but some are outstandingly good, with detailed modelling of expressions, real hair, and very fine frescos. It is like walking right into the middle of a painting. The final church where hundreds of statues rise into the dome is one of the most astonishing expressions of baroque exuberance I have seen. What is more, as a family, the kids really enjoyed this because this is also designed as entertainment- a kind of 15th century Madame Tussauds with lots of thinkgs to look at and explore and stairs and corners with twists and turns.Most amazingly this is free to enter and virtually no-one was there in high season. I cannot recommend this highly enough and it was the highpoint of our trip.

Lovely little town, with a cute center, a nice church, nice architecture all around the old town, if you are around it's a place to visit.

A gorgeous historical town with the UNESCO world heritage site of Sacro Monte, a renaissance masterpiece af architecture and art, set in a beautiful mountain park - you can combine a healthy walk with a satisfying cultural visit with spectacular views. Don't miss the Pinactoeca, the second art gallery in Piedmont - a great bad weather alternative to the Sacro Monte. Museo Scaglia will tell you all you want to know about life her in the 1800's and if you're there on Tuesday the market is also fun. Do't mss the rest of the valley, the Valsesia, it is just waiting for you to discover it and tell your freinds of its authentic charm and beauty. The locals are not always as friendly as they could be, but a smile from you may bring one to their faces and you will certainly love the local products: cheese, mocetta, and the local sweet delicacy Sorrisi di Varallo. Well worth a visit.

A quaint little town with an excellent market on Tuesdays, perfectly located for visiting the Sacro Monte di Varallo and the Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie. Or, pop up the valley to take advantage of the walking and skiing available in Alagna.

Il sacro monte di Varallo è stata una delusione. Stando alla pubblicità e alle recensioni che ho trovato qui, avrebbe dovuto essere un'esperienza... In realtà, per le condizioni delle stazioni, che sembrano pressoché decadenti e confrontandolo con altri che ho visitato, è stato una delusione. Quello che sicuramente ha di notevole è il panorama che si gode della Valsesia

e si gode di un panorama eccezionaleperchè si trova su di una altura sopra Varallo sesia.quando si va ad visitare il sacro monte bisognerebbe seguire i numeri delle 47 cappelle, racconta la vita di Gesu con affreschi e statue grandezza naturale.

E' un paesino molto ricco di bei palazzi, chiese, piazze e vicoli da visitare. Può essere una meta alternativa che offre molto.

un borgo cittadino con aria frizzante d'inverno e fresco d'estate..viuzze caratteristiche..bei negozi....un bel teatro..e il suo Sacromonte che si puo' raggingere a piedi i n macchina o in funivia che sovrast la valle e la cittadina...un perla della Valsesia...merita la visita..il ponte sul fiume sesisa è davvero bello e sempre arieggiato

Frequento la città di Varallo da alcuni anni perché sede di un importante ritiro agonistico di Judo. Trovo la cittadina ben tenuta e curata, il centro è molto particolare. Un borgo antico in a volte sembra di essere fuori dal tempo. Merita assolutamente una visita.

Varallo rappresenta uno dei borghi + belli d'Italia, merita di essere visitata. Le tipiche strade, i piccoli vicoli,negozi, il fiume che attraversa la città, un magnifico e suggestivo borgo. Da non perdere!!!!

Ci son stato di passaggio, in compagnia di amici miei per festeggiare il Capodanno, e nel suo piccolo, questo paesino mi è piaciuto tantissimo, e la gente del luogo ospitale, tranne uno che in macchina non ha dato la precedenza, ma per il resto è andato tutto bene.Se ci passate fermatevi a mangiare la "miaccia"

Questa cittadina è bellissima durante tutto l'anno e l'estate offre una festa bellissima andateci se potete

Vivo nella frazione di Varallo, quindi ho spesso occasione di andarci. La cittadina è molto bella e curata, con caratteristiche contrade, nel mese di luglio si tiena la mostra mercato Alpàa che anima la città e richiama moltissime persone. Vale la pena di fare una visità.
