Visited with a couple of friends on a rainy misty day in early December. On first impression it looked like a small charming village but on our walk through the old medieval buildings, visited the cathedral with it`s lovely interior the San Colombano were impressed with the beauty of this little village. We visited the church and of course no one must miss a walk on the old crooked bridge nicknamed Ponte Gobbo a fitting name to this unusual bridge more so on this misty day. Visit Bobbio also for the excellent gastronomy and try some farinata di ceci and buy some local coppa at the salumeria.
Yes, I know... but I have to add that is original, interesting, beautiful and ingeniously built with its unequal arches. The “Hunchback” is related to the devil-one night build bridge legend, present across many places in Europe... and the Mona Lisa myth still speculates today! This is an attraction absolutely not to be missed and it won't take a long time.Tip: If interested, walking from the town to the other side of bridge, going right there is a spring where locals go to soak their feet... the waters are said to have curative properties (mainly for skin diseases) and has the classic rotten eggs smell and is very salty... is located in the woods and there are no facilities.
The bridge is really lovely, and at sunset it is great to photograph it. Romantic and beautiful setting.
The Ponte Vecchio (called the Hunchback) is spectacular! And look over the left shoulder of Mona Lisa and join the conversation about whether this is the bridge!
An interesting walk across a very old bridge. Unfortunately a lack of interpretive signage to tell the history.
Yes! Because there is breathtaking jewelry as far as the eye can see!!! :-) Ok Ok....got carried away. Ladies (and some men) will love browsing the jewelry shops along this bridge. And the scenery is great on the outside of the bridge and down the riverbank - outstanding photos!! I recommend the walk through.
Not sure if they mean the bridge - Ponte Vecchio? The bridge has shops along both sides except in the middle, which has views along the river. Although quaint, because there are shops both sides you tend to forget you are on a bridge! All of the shops are expensive jewellers. A couple of good cafes over the bridge. Vibrant area.
I'm sorry but I don't understand why people like this. I love the buildings from the outside and the view towards the bridge but all the gold shops tells you something from the history but I don't like it because it is far to crowdy during the day as well in the evening.
This place is overwhelm with jewerly shops, it has a beautiful view. Go to the next bridge so you can take good pictures of here.
