First, it´s a nice walk from tha car park to the castle. You can take more ways -it´s possible to choose according how tired or fit you are. The castle itself is a ruin with magnificent views of a beuatiful countryside.

Tough walk to the top, but fantastic views if weather good. Cheap to get in and lots going on if you go I. The summer months. Nothing in September. See the boars and deer on your way up

Hukvaldy Castle is absolutely worth the trip, for those traveling nearby. There's not a huge amount to do, but it's a beautiful place to relax and explore for a while. The walk up to the castle is gorgeous, with plenty of opportunity to see wildlife, though the hill is a little steep. The castle itself offers a ton of history and there are small stalls to buy souvenirs and food from at the top. Highly recommended!!

This castle ruin is one of the most beautiful in the region. Not only for the castle itself but also thanks to a beautiful game preserve which surrounds it. And, what´s more, they prepare a wide range of events for their visitors: concerts, theater performances, games and more. So there is a lot to do for children, young people and also elderly people who can enjoy the walk around some of the most peculiar trees in the country. This place is a must.

The ruins of Hukvaldy Castle, mentioned for the first rime in 1234, overloock the community in which the composer Leoš Janáček was born. Rebuilt in Renaissance style, the castle was provided with Baroque bastions in 1640-60. Since a fire which occured in 1762 only ruins of the building have rremained. The castle is surrounded by a large ptrserve - theatre, memorial to the Cunning Little Vixen

The Hukvaldy Castle ruins and surrounding game preserve are well worth the trip into the north east of the Czech Republic. The castle is one of the largest ruins in central Europe and the view of the surrounding countryside from the top of the structure is breathtaking to be sure.If you go in summer, there is an annual classical music festival paying tribute to Hukvaldy's most famous son: Leos Janacek.

Castle is located on the hill abouve village Hukvaldy ( birth place of music genius Leos Janacek ) . There is a parking place down in the village and it takes like 30 / 40 minutes of walk through nice park / forest to the castle. Entry is about 70 CZK ( 3 euro ) there are family discounts. English speaking guide is possible but only at weekends. Castle is very big and mostly repaired so you get autentic feeling how it looks like in past days. There are few souvenier shops, some snack shops, bow shooting range and sometimes knight and medieval era exibitions.

We visited the castle in July 2013 and were impressed by its size and layout. It could do with some better signage and information in languages other than Czech but overall worth a visit. Within the grounds there are a number of 'have a go' activities such as archery which make for an improved visitor experience.
