Impressive building from the last century, like in the fairy tales. Unfortunately the castle was not open during our visit. You can take nice photos from below the castle. There are several small kiosks selling food and souvenirs.

I liked the castle but it is not possible to visit it by yourself. (or better... you can with a 70€ ticket!!) and if you want a guide in english you should call 48h in advance. The tour was very strict and did not give me the chance to enjoy the real atmosphere.

Very impressive palace-castle. One of the loveliest I have seen. Well preserved. Both the outside and the inside are great. We were in early October and there was no tour in English. The guide was polite enough to say some words in German after the explanations in Slovak.

Described as “one of Slovakia’s greatest tourist attractions”. I wouldn’t rate it that highly but it is certainly quite impressive and the tour (nearly 2 hours) is quite interesting. It is not that easy to get to by public transport. We made a day trip from Trencin, taking a bus to Prievidza, then a local bus to the castle, returning to Trencin. All this took quite some time, so we were not sure it was worth the time and effort.

This castle is a must see if you a day to spare in this area. Other reviewers have stated that the tours are just in English and this is true. However, do not let that stop you from visiting this castle. The inside is filled with furnishing, windows, ceramic heaters, gilded ceilings, and countless paintings, most of which are explained in English. At 8 euro for adults and another 2 euro camera fee, it is not the cheapest Castle, but up keep has to be expensive and it is guided. The tour ends in a cave at the bottom of the castle and is very a neat ending. Seeing the inside helps you understand just how those cold stone castles were turned into warm homes. You should spend the time to see this place. It is about a 50 minute drive from Tencin and 2.5 hours from Bratislava. It also has a free bathroom in the courtyard, you dont need to buy a ticket to use it.

This castle is the Real Deal. It has been continuously inhabited for centuries, until some years ago, so it wasn't ruined or restored. Stairs abound, and it is in no way accessible otherwise. Also, you cannot tour without the guide. The furnishings, paintings, tapestries, and artwork are very cool. I wish there was more detail provided in the English pamphlet, however. We could tell the Slovakian tour guide was giving some juicy details by the laughter from everyone but us. But we definitely got the gist of what we were seeing. Just focus on being in the space and let your imagination of what might have taken place there do the rest! There are touristy attractions just adjacent to the castle (ice cream, children's pony rides). The town itself was not inspiring.

We loved the exterior and its surrounding gardens. We did not get inside nor did we visit the zoo but this castle is so beautiful to look at from all angles. It is right in the middle of the town too, a great asset if you don't have a car.

This is supposed to be one of the great tourist attractions in Slovakia - but unless you are Slovakian, you are wasting your time & money! English is supposed to be the language of tourism but the tours are all in Slovakian & despite what another reviewer says, the pamphlet in English is NOT adequate for anyone with a knowledge of and interest in history. We were there today & being very keen on history & the local stories, found it most frustrating. I don't object to the tour being in Slovakian but it would have been kind for the guide to have a little English to be able to explain finer points & answer questions. Often our guide told a joke & the group laughed but we had no clue. Many other castles are open & welcome English language tourists. Our advice is GO VISIT ONE OF THEM!

This place has the work factor, it looks like a proper castle, it has history around every corner, the painting look at you when you walk past and the whole place was stunning in the summer sun.Well worth a look or a detour if you are nearby, mostly locals when I visited and not really that busy, so you can enjoy a day wandering around the area. If you love castles, you'll love this one.

A magic place in Slovakia. The castle is absolutely amazing. It takes 1:30h to see it, and it is absolutely worth of seeing. You can see it from almost every place in the village...and swimming pools Cajka. Amazing. I would love to turn here back.

We went to Bojnice specifically to visit the castle, however there was a special mystic day on and no tour unless you wanted to do a ghost tour of one small section. The castle is gorgeous from the outside,so would have loved to see the inside.

The most beautiful castle in Slovakia in this travelers opinion. Very easy access to the castle. A very nice tour even though it wasn't in english, but they do offer them.

I visited Bojnice castle few times and i always enjoyed my stay. My next tour will be in some summer when they do night tours. That must be great :) If you want tour in english, you have to advise in advance and you might pay extra if you are couple our less then 10

It's an above average European castle. It's fairy tale in appearance on the outside, but inside it is more "average", lacking in wow factor. It has some interesting furnishings and some medieval artifacts, but not many.To enter the castle you have to pay an admission fee of 7 EU per person and you must stay with a group, lead by a tour guide with it all conducted in Slovakian. You do have an English guide paper which covers the main points, room by room. If you come by car, you will have to pay for parking, at about 4 EU.You are allowed to take photographs with or without flash, which is nice. Be sure to arrive before noon or after 1 p.m. as the ticket window will be closed for lunch. All in all it is a nice hour and a half guided tour. I would not recommend driving far out of the way to see this castle. But, if you are nearby, I do recommend taking in this attraction.

Not sure if Walt Disney drove here at some stage, if he did this is the castle he used as the template for the Disney castle. Amazing, we did the 2 hour tour, 7 euros each (great value) the tour is in Slovakian but they give you a pamphlet with some English text which was more than adequate.Charming place, would definitely recommend the tour.
