Interesting building (modern inside) which is supposed to show the artworks off to their best - but we found some of them poorly positioned e.g. large canvasses in a narrow corridor so it was impossible to view comfortably. Some of the galleries are well worth visiting, for example the scenes of Breton life but others (e.g. the collection of religious works which nearly every gallery seems to have) could be missed unless you are expert in this field. The current exhibition of English paintings was also not so interesting to someone fairly familiar with the styles presented.

Great access, being in the large square with the cathedral and lots of cafes/restaurants around. Loved the Picasso exhibition and had a brief look at the rest of the gallery in charming Quimper.

Saw this lovely expo of Picasso and paintings of ancient local artists of the Brittany region.Very spacious for easy access to wheelchairs. No cameras allowed for the Picasso expo, but were allowed to photograph the excellent local master pieces.Very well situated near the Cathedral , cafés & restaurants.

the museum was excellent for such a small town and even better than the musee des Beaux arts of Rennes .It had a collection of Picasso paintins on the ground floor which was very nice.We recommend it !

As we had a somewhat rainy day in Bretagne we chose to explore Quimper instead of the beaches - and where very positively surprised by the local arts museum. Unprepared we took the chance to see the Picasso exhibition (prolonged until september 1st) and can only recommend it to anyone. While detailed through its theme 'women in Picasso's live' it is small enough to really enjoy it. But even without Picasso the permanent exhibition on the first floor is worth while a visit - definitely on a day with some lesser weather.

There was a Picasso show on at the time, average. The museum contains a large number of paintings and sculptures of varying quality, with a standout picture here and there such as a wonderful Jan van Goyen tucked away near the back.

This was our second visit to the Musee des Beaux Arts. The first time we went to see the local Breton art, and this time the Picasso Eternelle Feminine exhibition. The Picasso exhibition was well put together and larger than I expected. The Musee des Beaux Arts is well worth a visit.

There is good representation of the Pont Aven school. Well curated and presented. There was a temporary exhibition of Picasso when we visited which was well worth the 5 euros. A little gem of a gallery.

I just went to see the Picasso Eternelle Feminine exposition. Excellent ! Absolutely great and well organised with a guided tour (headphones !) This museum is really worth a visit for its remarkable collection and arrangement. A NE PAS MANQUER !

Lovely museum, fantastic collections. Bizarrely over-enthusiastic security, maybe it just wasn't busy enough...Particularly beautiful wall paintings from a Breton hotel.

French cities normally have good fine art museums and this one is no exception. There are some very good Breton paintings from the second half of the C19th, which should not be missed.

Large collection of local artists work, with some interesting information about each work. The building itself creates a tremendous sense of a grand setting for the larger works.

A sudden rainstorm moved me indoors to this small but interesting museum. In addition to the art (I particularly loved a portrail of Jacques Burel's grandmother), the museum features many items of furniture - some ornate and some arts and crafts - from an earlier time in Brittany. I also learned about Max Jacob - his ability and his life story. There was also a fascinatingarray of regional costumes. On that day, rain made me open my eyes to a little gem.

We were excited to be visiting a museum that has been a museum for more than 150 years. However though the exhibition - Baader - was beautiful that was the sum of the exhibition. We thought there wld be more given the history of the city an the age and position of the building. Assumptions on my part obviously wrong. That being said there was a school group of 8 yr olds being given a lesson by the curator on the exhibition. They were enthral led and it was brilliant to see those children enjoying the experience in their local gallery.

The gentleman on the desk was most welcoming and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition showing g a wide variety of Pont Aven School and fine Breton art in an interesting modern conversion of a go e building g on the cathedral Square.
