I went with my girlfriend and her parents to visit this fortress. As we couldn't rent a car the fort guide Noemi actually came to the train station to pick us up. The tour was really detailed and taught us a lot about the history of the region. And the remnants of the fortress was very impressive. I have traveled quite a bit and this was by far the most extensive and informative tour I have been on. If you have the chance definitely don't miss this! And ask for Noemi, she is a wonderful guide.

Dear defendertwa are rally sorry about what happend. We actually really propose english tours ut it's as writen in the leaflet, only from July 14th tu august 15th. When you came an aonther time, you have the possibility to follow french or german tour with writen explanation in english. And we only propose guided tours for safety and quality reasons : the area is so hugh that it is easy tu lose your way and it is complicated to understand the meaning of the fortress without a guide.SincerlyBernard Bour Président.

Before you visit this attraction you need to check the opening times and times of the tours as this is NOT open all the time.Also if you only speak English, the English tour is at 3:30pm every dayThis fort was built Pre - First World War, the complex is absolutely massive, only a small section is open for the tours.What is shown is how the fort was protected and how day to day life went on under ground.Really informative and the guide was excellent.The tour takes 2:30 hrs - so take a jumper as it can get coldits hard to believe its well over 100 years old.

.Ok I went to humour my husband, who finds military fascinating, but it was impressive! The section that you can visit is a fraction of this absurdly enormous folly under a hill that should have been growing good Alsatian wine. The guides are great and it is pleasantly cool on a hot day and not too strenuous ( I watched a couple carry a baby in a car seat round the whole tour!).

This fort was build during German administration between the end of the 19th century and the first world war. Therefor the concept is quite modern, the buildings are spread on a large area, hidden underground and linked with tunnels. There is also modern war machinery to see, a lot of it restored with loads of unpaid hours by volunteers. Kitchens, restrooms, surgery room, bedrooms etc of soldiers and officers are also nicely restored.The guided tour takes about 2,5 hours, the rooms are cold so in summertime you should take a jacket with you. The guide was very friendly, competent and dedicated.

A tour lead by very knowledgeable guides. A lot of exibutes can be touched an entered. A lot of fun for the kids.

Visite très intéressante, même pour les enfants. découverte de l'histoire de la région. Mais à éviter quand il pleut. la guide était très au point, elle connaît son sujet.

Nous avons pu découvrir les dessous de ce fort magnifique et et très bon état grâce à un guide à la fois pédagogique et passionné et nous ne le regrettons absolument pas. C'est un vrai joyau.Le fort militaire de Mutzig, construit juste avant 1914-1918, accueille 25 000 visiteurs par an là où le château Haut Koenigsbourg en voit passer 500 000, ce qui veut dire que 19 visiteurs sur 20 passent à côté l'autre haut lieu de l'architecture militaire d'Alsace.Des deux, Mutzig est en plus le plus authentique. Car, curiosité de l'histoire, ces deux forts sont en fait contemporains, ayant tous les deux été construits (ou reconstruits) autour de 1900-1910.Mention spéciale à la gestion de ce fort par une association franco-allemande, beau symbole

C'était super intéressant mais je crois que ce n'est pas toujours possible de faire la visite comme nous avons pu la suivre

Rein zufällig sind wir auf diese Festung aufmerksam geworden.Der Rundgang war höchst interessant und die deutsch-sprachige Führerin war sehr kompetent und konnte alle Fragen bestens beantworten. Diese Anlage ist sehr beeindrucken, von innen wie von außen. Ein riesiges Gelände, das mit viel Liebe und Sachverstand von einem deutsch-französichen Verein wieder hergerichtet und begehbar gemacht wurde und wird. Besuchen Sie dieses imposante Bauwerk, der Besuch lohnt sich!

Visite très chouette avec un guide passionné. On en apprend beaucoup sans jamais s'ennuyer. Site très intéressant pour les amoureux d'histoire.

Zeker de moeite om te bezoeken. Best stevige schoenen en warme kledij.De rondleiding duur een 3-tal uur maar gaat nooit vervelen.

Très intéressant et instructif. Bravo à notre guide Sébastien. En fait c'est l’ancêtre et aussi la base technique de la ligne Maginot.

Seit vielen Jahren beschäftige ich mich mit "FKWII" - der "Feste Kaiser Wilhelm II". Ich mag die Feste sehr und kann sie nur jedem Militärinteressierten empfehlen.. Ob normaler Rundgang (ca. 2,5 Std) oder große Führung (nur im Winter möglich - ca- 8-10 Std.) : man sieht wie die Soldaten damals lebten und sieht die ungeheuren Fortschritte, die das Festungswesen zwischen 1893 und 1918 machte. Ob dortige Schutzräume, ob Artillerie, ob Armierung, Küchen, Bäckereien, Hospital, Lazarett oder die interessant gemachten Waffen- und Uniformausstellungen: alles ist noch voll ausgestattet und einzigartig auf der Welt - das muss man gesehen haben!
