We have done this walk in July and January, definitely need the layers in January. Great views of the surrounding areas. Pity about all the felled trees which takes away from the beauty of the walk. Good day out for Primary School age children. Some of the walk ways will prove difficult/impassable for less able walkers, pushchairs. Excellent centre that is informative and exceptionally clean. Good parking and picnic benches.

the cavan burren is very well signed,there are paths and colour trails to get you around . a great way to spend a few hours

We visited in January 2015 ...on a cold, windy, snowy day but still were blown away by the views from the walks which surround the centre ...there is lots of history to explore ( on a better day) and I would really recommend that visitors to the area do take the time to make the short trip up to the centre from Blacklion.

Having visited this magical place several times over the years, it is great to see the positive reviews. However, the new interpretive centre and the amazing walking trails did not appear like mushrooms overnight. They are the culmination of years and years of endeavour of a very small number of people, mostly in their spare time. I only have a very rough idea of what was involved, but enough to know that the monuments, sites, ancient stone walls, etc contained in this relatively small but densely forested landscape, that had survived intact for thousands of years, were surveyed, identified, painstakingly documented and then constant, determined efforts were made for their wider recognition and future preservation. All of this led to the funding for the provision of the marvellous facilities to be enjoyed here today. As a previous reviewer has said, see it now while its quiet! I think it is unequalled in all of Ireland to have so many ancient sites together in such a scenic setting.

Went to visit Cavan Burren Park for the first time today and was very impressed, I was with a group and we had 2 guides Grainne and Jim who gave us some really interesting information on everything that we were seeing. The Scenery was lovely, you were looking over at the Cuilcagh mountains and down on Valleys it was breath taking. If you are into archaeology which I am there were megalithic tombs, cist graves etc. My favourite was the calf house dolmen tomb, to think that this dolmen was used as a calf house and then later I believe as a chicken house this was surrounded by the remnants of a homestead. As we were on a schedule we did not get to see it all, I will definitely be back with my husband and children, I know they would love it and it is Free and has excellent toilet faciliies

Just back from visiting the the Cavan Burren Park and wow. Turned up at 17:30 in the evening and spent an hour walking the trails with my wife and small kids.There is a great visitor information 'booth?' along with toilets & baby changing facilities at the car park. There are several trails of varying lengths all clearly explained and we took one marked as 45 minutes. The walking through meadow, light forestry and rock formations was beautiful. Some of the views were great (particularly a view of Lough MacNean and beyond to Sligo which is encountered on the drive up from Blacklion). Paths were mostly gravel path but through more boggy areas there are board walks. All items of interest are marked on signs in English and Irish and the paths are brilliantly way marked with coloured arrows. The kids loved a couple of the 'bigger' attractions - the Boulder tomb and the McCaffreys house and Calf house (runaround time). All in all, this was a beautiful and interesting walk in an area that also boasts the Glenfarne Shore walk, Cuilcagh Mountain and the Cladagh Glen as interesting FREE walks.Highly recommended.

History is not my cup of tea so I went mainly for the walks and the views. It was a gorgeous day so everything looked spectacular. There are 4 different walks colour coded but like a previous reviewer I would suggest "you are here " markers on the maps to help those of us who would not be map savvy!!! The pathways are wide and safe and well laid out and lots if info points scattered around. If you're into history there are some interesting (so my other half says) burial sites (boulders to me!!). While there are toilets (ladies was blocked and no roll left) a cuppa would have gone a long way to making it more enjoyable. We had to travel back into Belco to get a cuppa as everywhere in Blacklion was closed being a Sunday. Nice spot for a picnic or to stop of if you were taking a break

We visited this spectacular newly opened area on a lovely clear day where we walked almost all of the various circular trails in lovely sunshine. Previously a forest, it's been cleared to expose the sites of interest and consequently the views from the top were amazing ! (And in defence of comments by previous reviewer, the cleared areas have presumably been left with cuttings and scrub etc to help biodiversity - we saw an abundance of small brown butterflies). We particularly liked the idea of the all-weather board walks. The whole thing, including the information posts at points of interest, has been very well executed although 'you are here' markers would help walkers get their bearings. There weren't many people there and when we've asked around in the Cavan area, no-one seems to know it's there, it's all so very new - it's free, so enjoy it while it's quiet. It's a fabulous location, some of the trails more challenging than others, but would highly recommend for anyone visiting the area who likes walking, nature and history.

The site has recently been developed and is part of the wider UNESCO designated Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark. The site has been designated as a Geopark site for it's significant geological value with numerous glacial erratic boulders and karst limestone pavement just some of the features interpreted across the five trails and in the visitor centre at Cavan Burren Park. Thank you for your comments regarding the trails/boardwalks. The Pangaea reference in the visitor centre is in the context of global geology to allow the visitor to interpret the formation and movement of continents in Ireland's location today. The geology at Cavan Burren Park as you correctly point out is much older and this is interpreted in much greater detail in a local geological context. We agree the site is perfect for those wanting a day out with picnic facilities and for those on educational tours. In fact we offer educational tours to groups with local Geopark guides. As you may know the site was opened on May 9th 2014 and unfortunately on the particular day of your visit there were some teething problems with the water facilities which I can assure were rectified immediately.
