We had some really lovely views of this lake from the hotel we stayed at. The water looks like mirrors.
Liked everything, disliked nothing. This place should be visited if you are in Donegal or the west of Ireland, it is not to be missed and is a fine example of top class Iriish hospitality.
The views around this lough are spectacular to stand on the shore and have two swans fly past you not twenty feet away magic for me a bird fanatic.Lots of ducks and what seems to be the resident goose all waiting for the staff feeding time as we have breakfast in the dining room overlooking the lough
the views and the wildlife make this a really worthwhile destination - good even from the seat of your car!!
Loved the homemade fudge, popped in to buy some but was given with compliments. Thank you so much, thoroughly enjoyed
I liked the Square and the little cafe's. I enjoyed Donegal Castle ans later read much about it.The County Donegal Railway Restoration Limited is a wonderful idea.I was a little disappointed with the standard of the hotels in the town.
My review gives my likes and to be honest it's difficult to find anything that I disliked. We only toured the area by car on the second day, but possibly distracted by the weather, we didn't find Donegal town to be either attractive or interesting. The hotel itself took precedence over this.
Lough Eske was stunning. Peaceful, scenic and rural. We walked around the lough, it was so quiet and it was a bit like stepping back in time.
The day we went was crisp and cold. The loch was so still there was hardly a ripple on the surface so the snow capped mountains and blue sky were reflected beautifully. Took photographs but the reality was even better.
From the sec my sister and I arrived at the castle we were blown away, the grounds are fabulous, with sculptures dotted everywhere. We went for afternoon tea and we were seated in the green room where there was a lovely open fire crackling away, we sat by a bay window which had a stunning view of the castle grounds. Now i'm not a crockery sort of girl but it was to die for, very thing down to there sugar blows are dazzling. The afternoon itself was first-class you get to choose your tea and I had chia ginger tea which was lovely. They served us mini pastry, mini sandwiches and scones with clotted cream and jam we ate all of it. I can't rate this place highly enough it's a real treat. I'll definitely be returning and one day i hope it's to be for my weeding
Beautiful, atmospheric lake, even in the rain. Great walks all round and just a great place to chill out. .
For one portion of chips and two (very small) soups - the price was scandalous. Lovely place though and gorgeous grounds. Stuffy staff.
We had a wedding at this hotel the food was lovely but it took to long from starter to dessert to be served but it was worth the wait
Stayed here for 3 nights in mid October. Absolutely beautiful hotel, grounds and spa. Friendly staff. Lovely walks outside and around the hotel itself, on the lough. 10 minute drive to nice pubs and restaurants in Donegal town. Had afternoon tea which was expensive for what we got but was tasty all the same.
Excellent location - great accommodation, delicious food, friendly service - and a great place to relax.
