Visited the Museum on Sunday 8th march 2015. An absolutely fascinating place. So many items that I can remember from my own childhood and from my parents and grandparents brought back a lot of memories of simpler times. We needed more time and we will definitely return.Oliver SmithCo Meath

had a wonderful visit to this museum today. 5 adults ranging from 38 yrs - 88yrs and each one of us was enthralled. Looking forward to my next visit. This is a definite must visit for anyone that wants to learn or reminisce about the past in Ireland. Went in for one hour and left after two hours :-) The owner was very friendly and went well out of his way to take us around the museum. Clearly he is very passionate about this museum as so he should be

Only the big "museum" sign told us we had arrived, so it is off the beaten track, although it is well sign-posted. For a small site it has an amazing collection, all beautifully cared for. My two children (ages 11 and 9) found plenty to interest them, particularly the bog butter and the old Irish money collection. We came out of season and phoned first to check opening, worth doing. Lovely people.

We went to visit this museum and found it to be very interesting due to the many artifacts that were on display. In particular, there were many bits of machinery on show that reminded my dad of his past and shows what things were like many years ago, which we found to be fascinating. This was coupled with a bit of sporting memorabilia too which was nice to see. Moreover, the owner was also very pleasant and offered us many bits of information which made this a great place to go to; it is definitely worth a visit. This review is from Liam and Steve from London.

Took my mother who lives in moylough and my 2 fourteen year old daughters. We had an amazing time. It was great to see all the old things that I grew up with. Thanks for a great time.

Definitely has that off the beaten track feel and is NOT a tourist trap. Has the feel of an antique shop filled to the gills with artifacts from Irish folk history of the 19 th and 20 th Century. The owner and host is so friendly and available to you if you should have any questions but you are certainly free to explore on your own. The bathroom facilities are quite nice :)

We came upon this museum in the middle of County Roscommon and were thoroughly entertained by the extensive collection of folksy artifacts. They have it all from classic farming machines to gadgets of all kinds. You will leave the museum amazed at all the gadgets our ancestors used years ago. The curator was a hoot too!

Just West of Athlone. We Visited the DerryGlad Museum, The Tour starts at the well maintained car park. Before we got to the museum building itself, we had got our monies worth, the gardens together with the old tractor, phone box, petrol station, old signs and shop fronts were wonderful, at this point we entered the Museum building to find coffee and tea available ,and a warm welcome, there are so many old artifacts on display, you will be amazed, from the old shop to the medical hall to the school room not forgetting the old farm machinery and the camera and photo display. We loved seeing the bog butter too. Wonderful day out, well worth a few visits, don't forget to bring the camera, we are looking forward to a return visit

Visited Derryglad in early August after having planned to visit here for some time. So glad we made the effort. The museum is a real nostalgic experience and is packed full of every day items from years gone by and each item on display has a story of its own to tell. Highly evocative of a rural Ireland that has now disappeared forever and a must for anyone who would like to appreciate the Ireland of yesteryear. Will visit again next year for a longer visit.

We found this museum on the Irish Heritage Week website and were not disappointed. The eclectic collection is very extensive, covering domestic, agricultural and other items from the past, including a fully working grammar phone. The curator is exceptionally enthusiastic and is happy to tell you more background information on many of the items together with his memories of the past. The shop fronts are well restored and the photo shop is a gem - the old agricultural implements are not to be missed either.

This is a place not to be missed, with so much to see, there's something for everyone, a fantastic host and some outstanding nostalgia, we had gone to Athlone castle and were really disappointed but picked up a leaflet for this place whilst in the tourist office there and we were so glad we did this place was value for money. Many thanks Charlie keep up the good work....

This must be one of the best small museums with something for everyone, hard to believe it is all the work of one couple, we spend a while talking to Charlie Finneran who’s passion for what is his life’s work shines through. A real must for anyone visiting the Athlone area.
