The building is an impressive feat of Soviet retrofuturism, and it looks spectacular, but we went up during thick snowfall on New Year's Eve, and sweet Jesus what was the point? We went up early in the afternoon, but ended up literally being able to see nothing out of the windows, and we were the only people in the properly Cold-War-era revolving restaurant. It was a timewarp, and a pretty boring one at that. Still, from the outside the building is pretty remarkable.
Choose a nice day to go, it amazing. Views are well worth it. The restaurant is no big deal. But its worth a visit and snack.
I really regret wasting time on this so well-advertised 'place of interest'. The entrance fee is 6 euros simply for going upstairs to the restaurant. We had to spend an HOUR (!!!) standing in line, because everyone had to wait for a vacant table upstairs! What if I don't want to have a meal there? What if I just want to enjoy a panoramic view? Why do I pay 6 euros for simply going upstairs and taking a seat in a restaurant? We got very irritated by waiting. Moreover, I had to leave my bag downstairs, that's the rule. But how shall I carry my purse, my camera, my beauty bag, my mobile phone?!? In my pockets?? What if I don't have pockets at all? The organisation of all those things is weird and terrible. Still can't understand why I have to leave my bag in the wardrobe if I'm going to a restaurant... As for the restaurant itself, it was absolutely terrible. We wanted to make a big order, having some snacks, some drinks, some main courses, but a waitor told us off it: "You will have to wait at least for an hour, maybe you'll choose smth alse? like crisps or nuts..." Crisps or nuts instead of main courses, how do you like that! Still, we ordered a cheese soup for each of us, and I must say, the soup was disgusting. I've never been so irritated and disappointed... Obviously, we'll never go there again. If you want to enjoy the views of Vilnius, better visit Gediminas tower or a Cathedral Bellfry, because this tv tower is a terrible place.
We had to get a taxi out from the centre of Vilnius but it did not take long - about 10 minutes.we thought this may show some history about the tower, however it takes you up to the viewing area and you look out admiring the views. We wished we had booked a table as we had to stand as all tables were booked. You can still have a drink from the bar and look at the view. It is definitely worth a visit to see Vilnius and also the amount of tenement buildings they have surrounding the city. Cost - 6 euros per adult
Unfortunately the day we went it was really cloudy so we couldn't really enjoy the view. But despite this it was still an enjoyable trip. The restaurant at the top is quirky with its lit up posts and diner style seating and the food and drinks are great value. If you want an interesting yet affordable place to eat then I'd highly recommend the TV tower. I also loved that the tower has lots of lasers shooting out from it. That just added to the quirk and in the evening made for some great photos. The cloud did clear slightly in the evening and the view of Vilnius at night with all its sparkling lights was beautiful. Definitely worth the trip out to this site and only a fiver to get up there. Bargain compared to many other tower sites around the world.
Brilliant views from the top and only £5 to go up. Beer and snacks available in the revolving restruant
When arriving, stop and understand the cruel part of the late history - 1991. Try to understand how Soviet troops attacked and killed students here. See the bell of victory - the satelite antenna that was LTs only free way to the world during the last fight - from Seimas. Watch the exhibition inside the tower. And the ride up to the restaurant might cost some, but the food and the view is excellent!
I want to write a big thank for musician woman and all staff! The place is amazing! I made a proposal to my bride in the "clouds'. I will remember this place for the rest of my life.Everything is perfect there. You won't be disappointed!
Easy to reach by trolleybus 16 from the train station in the old town, I went there walking the 10km distance because I wanted to explore the suburban districts which surround the tower, which really worth a walk, they offer a view of the true life in town, very poor districts with still really "soviet" shape, but calm and not dangerous at all, I've walked there long without any problem. The tower itself is interesting and offers a really good view of the whole city but it's not allowed to take pictures and I had to leave the backpack, with the picture camera at the ground floor in a locker. It's also the most expensive sight to visit in Vilnius
Very nice place to visit to see the city of Vilnius. You can see the whole city beneath and really understand how diverse, big and green this great city is. You can order something to eat or drink and enjoy the view.
The main reason to visit is the view. The food is good, but nothing special. Grab some drinks and appetizers instead and enjoy the revolving sights.
have been there 3 times and it is always nice to sit at the spinning resturant up there and enjoy a beer or good food,we orderd only beer snacks up there and it was very good, this place is an absolute must go in Vilnius!
High speed elevator brings you up to observation deck & the restaurant "Milky Way" . It makes a full round in 50 minutes and gives you an option to see the town . You have enough time to eat or just take pictures. Admission - 21 lit for adults.
The views from the top are superb and really provide a wonderful panorama of the city and surrounding countryside. But, there is important modern day history on this site where people demonstrating for freedom were crushed by Soviet tanks. Unfortunately, the exhibit about this event is poor with little explanation of what happened and when. Some money needs ot be invested in this attraction.
Very interesting place, a place that has a special meaning for the independance of Lithuania. Visit the restarunat on top of the tower. Visit the tower in the evening when there are not so many people.
