This is one of the few modern pieces of architecture in Turku that is truly stunning. Staff is always friendly and speak many languages, there's tons of magazines, newspapers and books in all kinds of languages, and Café Sirius on the ground floor is a nice place for lunch and coffee. A true local hot spot!
The library is nice and clean and has plenty of places to sit and read or study. There are also lots of computers available. They also have DVDs and CDs that are free to borrow. There are magazines and newspapers in many languages too.
Turku City Library good stop on walk along the river tour, beautiful old part nicely connecting to modern new building. Good place to relax for a moment and for budget travelers it’s free of charge
Situated in the center of Turku, a very interesting building with many options for the visitor. Among the highlights, the opportunity to read in a peaceful environment with a great view of the city center. The entrance is of course free.
This library is an art. It has the antique side and a modern side, but no, they have not spoiled it with combining these two unlike in many other urban buildings. Both the old and new sides are a pearl from outside and once you get in, you see they are unbelievable from inside. This is your living room for free! You will not be missing anything here.
As a local I just love this place. If you are a family with young children it might be good to know that there is a big children's department with some toys to play with. And one of few public toilets for babies and children. (the others can be found at shops called Stockmann and Wiklund.)
This is a great place to rest your feet if you've been walking around all day but still want to see something new. And also if you want to look at the locals! Or try reading a Finnish hard rock magazine. :-)
Here you can borrow a laptop and read papers and magazines in many different languages at their comfortable desks in the city centre. But the best thing is that it has thousands of books to borrow ! You can spend many happy hours there browsing all this. And everything is free of charge which I think is really amazing. The librarians are very friendly and knowledgeable. They even promised to buy for me a book that they didn't have yet. Quite a service.
Turku City Library is a beautiful building with a lot of choices to read. It has many comfy sofas and chairs to relax and enjoy a book.
When on the road to Helsink you could relax a little in Turku and this construction of the City Library is not to be missing. It is located very close to the Cathedral and both places will complete and give you a good time in a pleasure walking .
Books in Finnish, Swedish and English, conveniently situated, helpful staff and a magnificent display of numbers of Finland's satirical periodical. Do not pass it by.
Workforce is wonderful! If they don't know it straight away, they will find it and call you. Absolutely fantastic place to go with children. There is the hole own area for them. Lot of lodges to read with your own. Technical recourses are good.
Huge selections. Many English books and magazines available. Staff are very helpful and basically everything is user-friendly and easy to navigate. They also have a Children section which literally the best section I have ever seen!
One of the best librarys in Finland. Huge selection. Magazines also in english available. Coffee and basic facilities availeble also.
I had to make changes to a presentation and did not have my laptop with me. The library offers the use of several computers free of charge even for an extended period. Since I do not speak the native language, I required help to perform functions such as printing etc. Two librarians were available and assisted very efficiently without any grumbling or complaining. After my work was completed, I toured the library and found it really modern and impressive.
