Played there last week (end of Feb) and although it was from the forward tees it still proved a very stern and enjoyable test. The greens were in excellent condition. Staff in the clubhouse were very friendly and contributed to a very enjoyable day.One point to note however is that the ladies course is quite demanding, with a number of holes having forced carries in the 175-200 yard range, which will prove very difficult for some. It is reflected in the par of 76, but on some of those holes, 11 in particular, there is no option to score. It should look great for the Irish Open later this year.

This golf course is simply the best in the world.A group of four seasoned golfers all well travelled all agreed this simply blew every other course that we had played away .The course was in fantastic condition, the greens awesome and the great caddies all added up to a wonderful day.If you enjoy a tough test of golf and you ever get the chance to play here do not hesitate.Thank you R.C.D fantastic .

If you ever get the chance of a round of golf here, grasp it with both hands. Probably the best course I've ever played on, but be warned, at present because of the irish open being held there in May of next year, you have to play off mats to ensure there is no damage to the fairways, so check before booking.

This has to be one of my all time favorites. Unlike the other courses we played on the rotation, this was my style of golf. I loved the layout, the history and feel here. Would recommend to anyone. This strikes at golfing purest's heart. I don't know if everyone will appreciate it, as some guys in our group didn't find it to be as incredible as I did. However, this is one of my favorite courses I have played anywhere.

Golfing in NI with friends, had to play here. Friendly clubhouse and starter. Good food for lunch. Course to ourselves! You had to wait until 1400 to let out the members so we had to watch an empty 1st tee for about 30 minutes but we knew in advance our tee-time so no blame there.Course in very good condition and marked off (for members) in preparation for next year's Irish Open. Some blind shots played havoc and the greens were tricky to keep approaches on. Overall, a good challenge and we made it home before darkness fell (just!). In the wind, it may be a bit of a monster!

Royal County Down deserves all the accolades and then some. This is the most magical golf course and the club house and staff are fantastic as well. We each had a caddie with decades of local knowledge and how gracious they were to the high and very low handicappers. I could play this course over and over, if I could get on! We grabbed tea and hot chocolate at the turn to warm us up and a late lunch and beer following our round upstairs in the dining area. A great way to end a memorable, fantastic round of golf on the #4 rated course in the world, according to Golf Digest.

The front nine is the best you can play, back nine isn't as spectacular but great. Expensive, but it's top 5 in the world. Great caddies and staff.

Historic and amazing golf that simply doesn't exist anywhere else. From the 9th tee you can see the Mornes and the Slieve Donard and the mist and the course in ways that defy logic.

Very special experience playing the number 4 course in the world. The seaside course is very difficult and penal because of the deep rough on both sides of the fairway. It's certainly worth playing because of the history. Having a caddy is a great experience.

Played last Friday with a member off the White tees. The course was in superb condition and fairways were immaculate. Finding the fairways is a must and you also need to be able to hit it 200 yards off a lot of the tees. Some long par fours and great par threes of varying length. Knowing the greens and where to miss them is crucial as is a course guide or preferably a caddie. Having played Portrush, Portmarnock, Carne, Enniscrone, Ballyliffin, Old Head etc i would say RCD is my favourite. It has everything you would want in a test of golf and the scenery is terrific. Get there and play it quick. Can't wait to see how the Irish Open tests the pros there in 2015.

As the number 4 course in the world and number 1 outside the US we had high expectations. They were greatly exceeded. We played the course twice over three days. Caddies were outstanding. Pace of play in the early morning was very good. Staff very welcoming. Definitnitelyy going back

Really enjoyed playing this very playable golf course. My only regret is that it doesn't really have a lot of views of the Irish Sea due to the dunes. Normally, there are spectacular views of the Mourne mountains but the fog covered them the day we played.

A lot of blind tee shots with some of the best vista views of the sea, mountains & gorse that you can imagine.

this depends wether you enjoy big winds and narrow fairways carpet fairways or devilish bunkers rimmed with tall grass ranked 3 in the world its worth the 180 pound fee caddies are a must and they make the most of the average player that you are dont delay plan to stay and play ...you will not be disappointed

Just got back from a week long trip to Northern Ireland -highlighted by final 2 days at this wonderful resort and golf course. Well deserved ranking and possibly best front 9 I have ever played. Not a course for the faint of heart. A lot of blind shots and long carries, but a visual delight.a great caddie named Patrick for both days. Would list this as a must play in any Ireland trip. Also great pro shop to spend a lot of money at!!
