A lovely place for a stroll around the lake, with swans, ducks and geese always there year round. There's a lovely rose garden, a glass house that houses all sorts of plants as well as a fish pond, and a children's play area. The cafe is well situated and sells delicious drinks, snacks and hot meals and the ice cream shop is a boon on a hot summer's day (or any day for that matter) Parking is available on the roadside all around the lake.
This is a beautiful place for a stroll. Mostly level so whether with a wheel chair or a pram it is easily accessible. great place for the kids to left of steam and if the weather is good a row around the lake is enjoyable, if not take the boat for q boat trip around the lake.
The gardeners are working hard to make sure the summer displays are first-class again. The council need to sort out the water pollution and dredge the lake. And why do people insist on feeding the birds near the roads? Encouraging then to engage with passing traffic is not a good idea!
My friend and I regularly walk around the lae and gardens and visit the cafe. We often see friends we know and enjoy the convvial family atmosphere there and its changes in all the seasons.
I live near to this city gem. I recently had a pleasurable Sunday morning walk around the lake. The gardens are well maintained. Note to self " don't leave it so long for my next visit2
Ideal for all age groups.large lake with boating in summer months.Coffee hose seving food .ice cream palour during summer months. Gardens and greenhouse.Large play area for children.good parking around exterior of park
The lake provides the centre piece with plenty of space for a pleasant stroll. The more active youngsters can use the play area with it's many apparatuses. There is the opportunity for boating on the water followed by something to eat and drink in the friendly cafe.
Love walking the lake and feeding the swans and ducks. Parking can be difficult as no dedicated car park.
It's a must for keen photographers. You can take a boat out, walk around, run if you must. The circuit of the lake is about a mile - so that's saved you the pedometer. It's rarely deserted, but parts of the park are locked at dusk each day. So to see inside the fence, go during daylight. There is a cafe and somewhere to buy ice cream and a large children's play area.
For a free attraction in Cardiff then Roath Park has to come out top. The best part for my Grandson is feeding the ducks, he lives it. The park is well equipped and plenty of places to have a picnic. I have been coming here since I was a child and I find it very tranquil and relaxing. There is a lovely coffee shop too which serves lovely food, definitely recommend Roath a Park.
being slightly biased as Cardiff is my hometown and having spent countless summer holidays as a kid growing up, i'd highly recommend this wonderful park, was able to sit back and watch the families enjoying themselves as much as I did as a kid..
I am a regular visitor here wether I'm with my children or my elderly mother. I have many fond memories of coming here from my childhood and the enjoyment never diminishes. There is ample parking all around the park but it can be very crowded on a sunny day. The gardens are lovely to wander around with plenty of benches to rest if needed. There is a little 'green house' or whatever you call it that you pay a small entrance fee and you can see fish, turtles and plants etc. You probably won't be in here long and once seen is enough. There is a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating which serves adequate food and an outdoor kiosk serving typical ice creams and lollipops. On the other side there usually an ice cream van located next to the toilets. This is also where you can easily access the terrific park for the kids but be warned, it can get very crowded. There's also plenty of greenery to sit and chill and play sports. The boating lake is great as you can hire pedalled or rowing boats or sometimes there's a motor cruiser so you can sit back and relax. There is ample seating and picnic tables all around the lake and you will often see joggers, walkers and kids on their scooters or bikes. I often take a flask to have a hot drink and a picnic when weather permits. It doesn't have to cost a penny coming here and you will still have a fab time. Just watch out for the ducks and swans......they are very people friendly and like their bread!
It holds happy memories for me as a young man, as a father and a grandfather. Too old to row but still enjoy walking there.
Multiple options satisfy all requirements Wonderful sea views Provide good car parking spaces Multi coffee shop choice
Brilliant lake with nice cafe and paddle boats with a park and nice gardens there is a reasnobke amount to do but parking can be an issue in the summer
