I often visit Geilston Garden and regard it as a "secret garden" as I always seem to get it almost entirely to myself. There are nice walks in the grounds and it is particularly spectacular and Spring when the daffodils come out.

Unfortunately can't give any views on this attraction as we didn't get by the front door. We were informed no dogs allowed so turned and went away.

I visited in October particularly for the fall colours in the woods. I was not disappointed. Delightful woodland walks. I did not have enough time. I must return!

I spent over 2 very happy, Autumn hours yesterday discovering the gardens, woodland & river walks at Geilston. A peaceful wee treasure. What will it be like in Summer? I'll be back. Produce from garden on sale.

Enjoyed all the lovely scenery and wonderful gardens, well kept parks levengrove is stunning, as are all the others, a very well kept place

One of the best gardens I have ever visited. It is a place one could see creating at home. As a national trust property, it is beautifully maintained. It did not matter that the house was out of bound as it was due renovation. During the summer, plants and vegetables are sold. We bought some vegetables and fruit including lovely runner beans, carrots, swede which ran on an honesty box system.

We visited the gardens with a tour group and our guide led us on a forest walk. She explained how "plant hunters" had found many of the trees and plants that grow there. Had we been on our own, we would have learned a lot less, but it still would have been a lovely walk. The garden itself was beautiful. Produce was for sale at the front gate and a friendly volunteer had maps. It was a good place for a "comfort stop" as well. It's not a destination, but don't miss it if you're in the area.

We are N.T.S members and after visiting Dumbarton Castle and the effort that required we called in to visit the Gardens. The gardens were staffed the day we visited the volunteer was very helpful giving us a map of the grounds . The gardens and woodland walks are delightful the weather was nice and sunny which makes all the difference. We sat for ages in the garden a nice place to reflect.

This is an NTS property. There are really three gardens. The vegetable garden is very impressive and you can buy the produce. There is a walled garden and also a woodland walk. We saw no staff. There were honesty boxes for admission, books, produce and drinks. Probably not worth a long journey but well worth a visit if you are in the area.

We went to the garden in the Spring and the bluebells were in abundance in the wood . There is such a variety in the garden and it is very quiet as there is no tearoom but you can get refreshment from a machine and there is a toilet . It is a National Trust property .

The big Wellingtonia is the star of the show but the whole place is lovely and well cared for, from the yellow yew mini-hedge to the intriguing potting shed with its view of the burn and also an impressive vegetable garden. There is no tea room or gift shop but I don't mind that. We encountered a gardener who was friendly and obviously happy at work. The guy on the gate gave us the usual NT hard sell but no problem.

I share the enthusiastic views of the other reviewers here. Geilston Gardens are tucked away off the road to Helensburgh. I didn't know of their existence until we joined the National Trust for Scotland, who look after them. Well worth a visit. They're not as extensive or as grand as those found at some stately homes, but their 'homeliness' is perhaps their big attraction - the kind of gardens you would be happy to own! The walk down by the river is particularly enjoyable, as is the lawned area and borders in the walled garden, at the back of the house. More money is clearly needed to completely re-instate this little gem, but it's slightly 'run down' appearance actually adds to it's charm and attraction. You can have a picnic in the grounds and buy veggies from the vegetable garden. The staff are very helpful. Enjoy it :)

Loved this well kept secret of a garden. It is very laid back with just an honesty box for entrance fees and plant sales. (which are on sale by the entrance )As everyone has said, when, opening the little unobtrusive gate into the walled garden ,one isn't prepared for the amazingly beautiful gardens that are revealed.There are woodland walks, walks by the river and a huge vegetable garden.We spoke to the gardener as he was leaving to go home at the end if the day and the whole garden is done by him and a part time gardener plus a few volunteers. He seemed delighted that we had enjoyed it so much ........and we really did.

Yet another NT property. Manicured and well maintained, it is sloping down toward the creek. Charming walks through the wood along the bank of a whispering creek among deafening songs of birds in the springtime. Its attraction lays mainly in how varied it is in proportion to its rather medium size. Remains of an old mill, renovated glasshouse, vegetable garden and an orchard, walled garden with colorful herbaceous borders, shaded woodland walks, a meadow and a pasture with some cows in it as your tour comes to the end. Pity the old farm house has not been restored yet. Would make a lovely museum of country life as well as a tea room. Maybe it will be when I come next time!

I visited with a friend the other day. We both enjoyed exploring the small but compact gardens and enjoyed the the garden style changed around every corner. From a kitchen garden, to a Burnside woodland to a walled garden. The only thing that lets this place down is they don't stamp National Trust passports or sell a postcard of Geilston Garden, so any the memories are all I have of my very enjoyable visit. All in all It's a lovely day out and can be reached by train being only 20 minuet walk form Cardross Railway Station, which has regular trains to Helesburgh and Glasgow!
