Nice place for a walk and a picnic. Small forest near the town with a lots of paths. During the winter time very muddy so don’t forget your wellie boots. A bit disappointed with the parking tickets which are £2.60 (valid for 12 hours) but still worth to go.
We regularly take the dog for walks at the park. Very pleasant with cafe and toilet facilities. Cafe is expensive so we only go in for a coffee to warm up.
A haven of greenery close to Irchester town centre, this has plenty of green spaces, lots of trails through the trees and enough to entertain every member of the family. Great fun!
very good for all the family, no matter what ages there is something for all ages, kids will adore there visit, asking mums/dads to take them again
Set in very unique surroundings ,namely an old iron-ore quarry, this country park ticks many boxes for a fun or relaxing experience and I believe there is something for everyone. The fee for the visit is just the parking fee which costs just £2.60, well worth it! There is so much to see and do. There is an excellent adventure park for the kids catering for most ages and sizes. This area is safely fenced off from dogs, but has plenty of seating outside for parents to watch out for their kids and where they can look after their pets whilst the kids enjoy the apparatus. There is also a very good adventure park for older kids and adults and this is often used for team-building corporate events. All these facilities are next to amenities like toilets and wash areas, as well as the 'Quarryman Café' which sells very good quality food and homemade cakes/ice-creams. We have often enjoyed a good Sunday roast there, which is subject to availability throughout the year. The chef makes all the food on the premises and it really is a delight to sample. In the winter you can sit inside in comfort, but also it is really nice to sit outside in the summer. There are a variety of walks, the longest of which is about 2 miles, but there are plenty of shorter ones. Bikes are a good idea especially in the summer, as there are lots of interesting and challenging runs to try in the woods. I recommend wellington boots in the winter, as the ground can be a bit sticky. The terrain is easy in the main walking areas although in a wheelchair it may be a little difficult on the longer route. There is also a Railway museum which is open at weekends, but I would check with the park to see if it is open in the winter months. The park is aptly named 'Jurassic Park' and it certainly has that feel to it with lots to explore, and some interesting Dinosaur finds in parts of it. Picnic tables are provided in some areas and there are some open spaces to kick a ball around. You may also see some wood carving going on, as a local artist can sometimes be seen carving tree trunks with a chain saw. We love this park and visit it many times each year, always interested to see how the seasons are transforming it. A lovely day or afternoon out for many I feel.
Such a lovely place on a warm summers day, pleasant surroundings, staff friendly coffee and tea excellent
Very good playground area. Cafe facilities good. Lovely walks through the woods. Got a great obstacle jungle for older children.
Irchester park is 20 minutes from Northampton and 30 minutes from Milton Keynes, former ironstone quarry, Irchester narrow gauge railway museum here and 83 hectares of mixed woodland to roam in, plenty of open spaces and play areas for the children to let off steam, good walking and dog walking trails, Jungle Parc is located inside of Irchester country park with professionally trained instructors and all equipment supplied. We live about 10 mins away from here and love coming over for a walk around, several paths you can take, lots of photo opportunities too. There is a cafe, although we find it a bit expensive, everyone to their own. Pay and display is £2.60 you can park all day, If you park in the lower car park which is inside Irchester country park the gates close any time between 4pm/5pm or 7pm depending on time of year, but parking in the upper car park you do not have that worry as it is open all day every day. Cafe open every day except Christmas day.
Came here the other day with my nice and had a great time in the play area. Had a hot chocolate and cake in the cafe, perfect :)
Lovely country park, well looked after mostly by volunteers. Often see red kites and deer. Excellent play area also a cafe/restaurant which I've not tried so can't comment on. The annual Woodfest weekend is a real treat
The Parking and the Cafe' are very expensive. I think it was £2.60 to park for 2 hours and over £10 for two snack meals.
Great walks, ideal for dogs and children. Lovely in the summer with an ice cream van on site, plus a cafe and snack bar. Nice for a picnic or for a leisurely stroll in the country.
What an amazing parkland. Just a varied and rugged woodland. Plenty of climbing and hidding fun activities for he kids. A great play area for all ages. Cafe sells a good variety of things. A true suprise and and place we have visited many times and cannot stop going back too.
Amazing park and fab walks and all for the cost of the car park which is very reasonable for the whole day. You can spend hours here. Take a picnic or eat in the café which offers lovely food at a reasonable price. Love this country park.
To do: The playground is huge, plenty of activities for all ages, some seating available - plenty of space for a picnic blanket though. Several large grassed areas. Many walks through the extensive woods, my kids love to go "off road", look out for mountain bikes and muddy puddles. parking costs £2.60 (Aug 2014) - everything else is free. Toilets aren't too bad - a park full of children with muddy boots, they are never going to 100% Please note: Northamptonshire country parks are no longer providing rubbish bins they want people to take their rubbish home. This saves the park money and encourages people to clean up after themselves. Unfortunately it also means that the bins in the toilets and by the food provisions are often full.Food: there is a take away provision with everything from coffee to burgers. there is also a café with seating inside and out, mid priced American style - burgers / chili dogs and the usual sandwiches / Panini. On site is a Tree top adventure trail which costs £12 for an hour and a half- cant comment as we have never used it, but would say that they only take cash.
