Yes, it does get overcrowded at bank holidays but the sense of history (British Camp) and the extensive vistas over, particularly Easton Park and the Marcle Ridge make it well worth the steep walk. Dogs love it but must be restrained near sheep.

Walked across the Herefordshire Beacon on a Saturday afternoon as far as the obelisk in Eastnor Park. Such a wonderful lazy stroll and a awakening cold blow across the face. The views are stunning and the views through the bare trees are just amazing. The return to the car park was a good walk through the woods following the Land Rover course. If you come across the cars have a watch. They are quite good. The backside of the Beacon is beautiful as well. Great walks....don't miss them.

And follow it up with a fresh sandwich or a bowl of home made soup from the cabin below on the road side, or set back in the Malvern Hills hotel.Satisfying day out, oh yeah..

Great place to climb up to some of the best views in England. Birds, Butterflies, Flowers or Fungi - whatever turns you on can be seen up there at different times of the year. Park at British Camp car park, charges apply but it is well worth it for the spectacular views and historical earthworks to explore.

Great walk over the Malvern's. Herefordshire Beacon has it all. Sit on the top and take in the views!! Listen to the skylarks. The panoramas are to die for. Best part of day at sunset on a summers evening. The golden glow of the sun catching the hills. Highly recommended. The Malvern Hills Hotel for a local ale a must after a hike.

Rather than going straight up the beacon, take the left hand path above the side of the reservoir for pretty views, then when the path reaches a stone direction circle, ascend back towards the beacon. The descent is fairly steep so you need good shoes/boots ideally but it is all paved/good paths.

There is a large and well-used car park at Wynd's Point and from there it is a stiff climb to the top of Herefordshire Beacon (aka British camp) - but it is so worth it! This hill is offset westwards from the rest of the Malverns, so you get stunning views of them plus the most amazing 360 degree panorama stretching as far as Hay Bluff, the Severn, the Cotswolds, Titterstone Clee and May Hill. The landscapes of the Worcestershire Plain to the east and the hill country of Herefordshire to the west are England at its best. The hill itself is crowned by an Iron Age hillfort with a Norman motte within it. So you get history and scenery in one package!

We parked in the 'British Camp' car park on the A449 south of Great Malvern. From here, there is a gradual climb up to the Herefordshire Beacon - the views from the top, on a good day, are superb. From here, we walked onward to Hangman's Hill and Swinyard Hill, returning via Broad Down on a lower track overlooking a small reservoir. A great morning out!

One of our favourite places to walk our springer spaniel. Lovely walks, great views - you can see for miles on a good day.

Great walking up to Roman Camp, but go beyond (southwards) to escape all the crowds. There is a car park at the foot of the Beacon so it is not far to the top and for the most part a hard surfaced track, but it is steep. Enjoy the 360º views at the top on a clear day.

What a great way to spend a day! Superb views, great exercise with views to distract your pain! Try and do the Beacon to British Camp. The best way to spend a days good exercise!!

From the British Camp car park we hike up to enjoy stunning panoramas of the surrounding countryside from atop the Herefordshire Beacon. There are numerous trails on the hill and around the ancient earthworks of the fort, allowing great opportunities to take in the splendours of the views of the surrounding countryside. A £3 car parking ticket is valid for the full day at numerous car parks around the Malvern Hills. A great day out.KT55

Wonderfully preserved Iron Age hill fort - more interesting than the higher Worcestershire Beacon. Not a difficult climb.

Excellent walk from the Golden Valley, Holly Bush, or Eastnor and Summerhill. By way of Hangmans or the Cave.Good views.Descend down to the Malvern Hills Hotel for some well earned refreshement before resuming your journey.

hard work getting to the top but oh boy it was worth it.wear sensible shoes and be prepared for showers which can make the slopes slippery.take a nice slow walk around the hills and enjoy the views and fresh air,and when you get back down to base have a drink in the Malvern hills hotel.
