肉铺街

一条美丽古朴的,用鹅卵石铺就的街道,原来的店铺可追溯到世纪之前。千万不要错过废墟底部的巷子,那里可以把你带到最短的街道,但却有最长的名字“'Whip Ma Whop Ma Gate'”这里是摄影师的梦中之地。

过去几个世纪以来,从没有人想着要把这些小地方给拆掉重新建设更加宽敞的马路和更新更大的楼房。现在这些小店都为了游客而存在,但来到这里,街道还是会向你展现出中世纪的万种风情。

古色古香的商店,悬垂的建筑,各式风格混杂,让人恍然进入18世纪的时光一样。保存完好,古镇别有风味。

Shambles是约克最古老的街道之一,地上的鹅卵石如果可以开口的话,它们会述说很多故事的。漫步在这条窄路上,你可以想像到当时人们是如何生活的,非常有历史氛围的。

这个街道不可思议。这里有原始状态的建筑,让你知晓几百年前生活的样子。我不敢相信这些建筑让然还站立着。同样,这片区域里还有个“鬼屋”。不过不要管闹不闹鬼了。很棒的是你可以进入这个房子中看这个街道上房子中当年生活的状况。一定要看看!能到里面看看并且走过所有的房间是很酷的一切事情。我们去过太多的主题公园,看过他们重建以前的建筑作为电影背景场地。这里是原汁原味的,原始的建筑都还在矗立着。你可以看到建筑随着时间发生了扭曲和倾斜。

I turned the corner, and I was standing in front of DIAGON ALLEY! Oh, my! But, stepping back into the muggle world, when I did a walking tour and the guide spoke to us about The Shambles, it was so interesting. Just walking down this street was magical, quaint, something I've just never seen anywhere else. I think we visited one or two shops, but from the outside they all looked lovely.

Crowded as ever, on lots of other peoples photos, shops too crowded to get in but still wouldn't miss it!

It was such an old lane to walk down, lovely with some really nice little shops there. We went to a Pizzeria down there for our evening meal which was beautiful :) If you go to York, you have to have a walk down The Shambles!!

This is a must visit... traditional small shops selling food, souveniers, coffee shops ect. Narrow streets typical of a fortified city.

Not one for an open top bus or anywhere packed with tourists but found every shop, food stall and jewellers not only friendly but informative on York to dos. A not to be missed area, good food gifts and people

Iwas quite surprised by the hype I'd read about The Shambles as although the street is old fashioned and cobbled (and typically narrow by todays standards) apart from one or two historic and interesting buildings, the remainder seem to be modern day,glitzy shops that detract from the historical theme of the street.

The street defintely takes you back in time. Very narrow in places. The state the houses are in is remarkable. Defintely worthy of a visit.

What a place to wander about and drift back in time, pity the prices could not do the same. The whole feel of this area is just stunning and makes you want to stay longer and longer till you cannot carry anymore shopping!

Wish it weren't pouring rain on the day we visited The Shambles - but it didn't diminish the beauty of nth is area. Almost felt as if I were living back in old england. Small shops, hidden alleyways - a must see for any visitors traveling to, or through, York.

'olde worlde' Everything is lovely! exactly what you expect when you go to York! Shops, eateries, close to museums and amusements.
