Few cities offer history, architectural marvels and magnificent views at every turn as does Segovia. Worth a drive from anywhere in central Spain to enjoy this gem of a place !

Usually tourists come here from Madrid in a day tour, but this city really deserves more than one day. The Aqueduct, Cathedral, Alcazar, Old City, Plaza Mayor, Restaurants, Tapas, Bar, etc. deserve a lot of time. There are several tourist information centers and you have an unique feeling strolling around the streets with great views. You need to be in good shape because the city is built in a hill.

very quiet and clean, good local wine is served in most of the local restaurants. you have to watch out parking, it will be easily towed if you park you car illegally

I loved walking around the city, you feel as if you are part of the history. I got a great workout. There are many hills and stairs to use while exploring the city. Watch your belongings. My cell phone was stolen out of a side pocket on my purse while walking along the city streets.

We walked from the Roman Aqueduct to the Cathedral. This was a very pleasant walk with shops lining the street. Later we came to the Plaza Mayor and they had a market there. Then we saw the very beautiful Cathedral, which was very impressive. When we came down the hill we passed the Juderia, which was very clean and had restored buildings.

Out of two day trips out from Madrid (the other being to Toledo), my wife and I loved the trip to Segovia and its Old City more. It is a popular tourist destination, but a lot of effort has been put in to make sure that it retains its old charm and mystery. One effect of this is that the streets are largely cobblestone walkways, so you might want more comfortable shoes when visiting Segovia. For older folks, do also note that there's quite a bit of uphill slopes to take when walking from the entrance in, but they're not too steep take your time.The must-visits are the Cathedral and the Alcazar (apart from the Aqueduct of course).Tips to travellers: (i) Note that the train from Madrid to Segovia is from Chamartin station, and not Atocha; (ii) there's at least one bus from the Segovia Guiomar station to the Old City, stopping right in front of the Aqueduct; and (iii) if you're here for just a day, cater as much time as possible, because it's a much welcomed trip away from the bustle of Madrid.

Wonderful streets to stroll around and then grab a bite! It is nice to just get lost in the past when walking through the old city of Segovia as I did with friends in 2005.You cannot beat the real thing ... it is just a great way to get lost imagining what a city like this was like hundreds or thousands of years ago.

One of the best things about Segovia's old city is how easy it is to get around. We didn't even have a map but the tourist signs were enough and we got to all the sights. It is a bit up and down but take your time, it isn't anything strenuous. The streets are cobblestoned so wear comfortable shoes

We were there on an overcast day which I felt added to the Romance of the old city. We took lovely pictures and met many friendly folks as we explored the city. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes suitable for cobblestone walkways

The old part is up and down, but well worth the visit if you can get about, lovely old town with lots to see and do.

It was a lot of fun wandering through Segovia from the Alcazar to the Cathedral on to the Aquaducts. You can feel the history and there is so much culture to soak up.

We wondered round discovering more Romanesque churches than we had imagined, their characteristic in Segovia is the portico or colonnade around the church. The most beautiful were: San Martin, San Esteban, La Santa Trinidad, San Lorenzo, San Millan, LA Vera-Cruz

We went on a guided tour and gained insights into the various cultural influences and city quarters inhabited by the various groups. It was remarkably quiet when we were there (in the morning) but gradually the town woke up and people started coming in for the afternoon and evening relaxation

This rates very high on my all time favourites list, I loved the history of this old city. The city has so much to see, make sure you have at least one whole day, I would suggest 2 so that you can enjoy the local bars/restaurants they are equally set in fantastic historical buildings, you can easily take 200/300 top photos!. The must sees are the Aqueduct, Alcazar, Cathedral and then just stroll around the old city, stop off at one or more of the bars and enjoy a glass of local wine. Segovia is not a typical rip off historical city, bar prices are good and there are so many to choose from. Enjoy the locals in the tapas bars creating brilliant atmospheres, enjoy a tapas with every drink and try the ham!!. The central sqare is a great place to sit and relax, the Cathedral dominates this square but what a sight!!. Try "Meson de Jose Maria" brilliant little bar/restaurant with hams hanging from the ceiling, a real lunch time buz with the locals. Not a rip off, lovely wine & tapas or full restaurant!. Anyway, just stroll around and whatever looks good is probably very good!.

Many steps and built on a slope, well preserved and not overly crowded, it easily conveys the feel of life in the middle ages and renaissance.
