Attractive, small sandy beach area between scenic 'castillos' (castles)... too windy & cold for more than a brief visit (but no crowds today ;)... One of many Cadiz highlights, but needs warm weather for best enjoyment... our visit favored churches and delicious seafood (indoors).
We travelled in December, it was very nice enjoying a drink in the sun.But the beach is rather small, some of the beach buildings were closed because of reconstruction (op bankrupcy?).But it was winter when we went there and we did not come to Cadiz for the beach.
The only beach in Old Cadiz. It's small, but I imagine it would be beautiful in summer or warmer weather. There is a pier that goes far out into the ocean to an old fort, which just so happens to be one of the filming locations of Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Perfect for a beach person, and also a great attraction to see at sunset to catch some beautiful photos!
Its such a pretty beach with fortresses you can visit on either side. The views are spectacular whatever the tides. At full tide little fishing boats bobbing up and down or otherwise just as pretty beached. The setting was considered so like Havana that a James Bond movie was filmed here. The beach is massively crowded in the summer with local families, bringing their chairs and tables for Sunday lunch in the simmer. But your can buy a wonderful fresh grilled fish lunch at the restaurant down on the beach or get drinks and tapas at the bar. Alternatively overlook the beach from La Quilla rusty ship like restaurant to one side. The causeway walk along the rocks from the beach to San Sebastian on the far side is great with wonderful views all around.
This is the old town beach and even at its most crowded there always seems to be a bit of sand for you. Very child friendly slope into a shallow bay, lifeguards and a nurse on hand in the summer. Showers, toilets, a bar with decent food, vendors with drinks, ice cream at the kiosks. Everybody goes here from the grannies playing bingo under their sunshades to the smallest toddlers. Very Spanish, very friendly. Topless is fine. The true Cadiz experience.
Take a picnic down to the Caleta beach and enjoy an explosion of colours at sunset. It can get quite busy in summer months but off-season it´s a great place to laze about.
This is a beautiful beach protected by a large bay. The sunsets are amazing and my wife and I would recommend getting there a little early for sunset and drop into Quilla which is right on the beach for drinks and slowly watching the sun set over the ocean. We were there in November so a little cool for swimming but it must be a lot of fun in the summer given the fine sand. Oh! Halle did a movie here...a James Bond movie... it's a stretch..but we have both enjoyed this beach....just not at the same time. I was happier being there with my wife & girlfriend (both the same person)
La Caleta Beach, site of Halle Berry's hip-dislocating walk out of the sea in a James Bond film, is on the western side of Cadiz' lengthy seaside walking route and among the best opportunities to catch amazing sunset photos with small fishing boats in the foreground and the old fort of San Sebastion (on an offshore island) in the background. Also has the strange mock-Moorish beach club.
When I was in the city the place that I loved most was Playa de La Caleta, here there's gold sand and the fantastic ocean which isn't very cold.. I've been in the city two week and I spent lots and lots of afternoons here!Go, have fun & relax!
Located at the crown of the old town of Cádiz and nestling between two forts, this is a perfect little spot to indulge in sun worship, people watching and frolicking! It was pretty quiet except for the huge seagulls eyeing us up, pretty boats to look at and just a lovely atmosphere. As it is protected by the forts, there are hardly any waves so there is a culmination of seaweed and gravelly bits but it's honestly one of the prettier beaches I've seen in Spain. Also, we read later that it was a location used in Die Another Day, it was a stand in for Havana Beach, Cuba. So I stood pretty much where Halle Berry did so that practically makes me a Bond Girl right?! Definitely pay it a visit :)
This is around ten minutes walk from the centre of town, and went went in via a huge, ancient tree - well worth a look! The beach was pretty empty when we went and there was no problem getting lots of space - this was early October though so I imagine it'd be busier in the peak season! The weather was very warm and sunny and there were coconut sun shades dotted around - all free. You need to pay for chairs or recliners or fetch your own.The bay has castles on either side and makes for a great view. Also further down the beach were some great sand sculptures. It was a brilliant place to sit down for a while and just relax after seeing the sights - highly recommended.
We found this lovely little beach, nestled in a little cove, whilst walking round the old city walls. It's sandy and sheltered and is surrounded on both sides by medieval forts. If visiting Cadiz on a day trip don't forget to take a towel.
Nice beach at the ocean shore. In September was not crowded. It is very good, but the sand is not very clean.
It´s seems that you are in Cuba, not in Spain. But its in Cádiz where you find this beautifull beach, full of colorfull boats. Early in the morning you will find peace and calm. I like to watch fishermen.
Flanked by two castles, beautiful water with perfect temperature, excellent public showers and bathrooms. And this is a urban beach, next to the center of Cadiz. Amazing.
