Truly beautiful beach with changing facilities and bathrooms plenty of restaurants around - very nice seating areas and beautiful views.
We love that each morning we are able to wake up to this beautiful beach. Some days it is as calm as a swimming pool, others there are waves full of surfers. It doesn't matter the weather, everyday there are always people swimming, walking there dogs, running and enjoying the beauty of La Concha. It is a magical place!
La Concha (shell in Spanish) is exactly that, a clam shell shaped cove or inlet with a surrounding beach. It's a beautiful spot, the sand is fine, the cove itself possibly a kilometre or more across, and if you swim out to the centre it's deep enough to be dark water when you dive in. If you prefer shallow just stay nearer the beach. Wikipedia describes it as an urban beach which I guess is fair. It's not a seaside town per se, not as we would understand it in the UK. However it does create a focus for what is a beautiful city, with both old and new towns, plenty of decent restaurants, good shopping and an abundance of Spanish charm. This is a beautiful city and La Concha is definitely the pearl at the centre of this particular oyster.
Lovely cool clean waters but on a hot day you're lucky to find a spot for your towel. Worth it all the same.
Central beach - La Concha. Despite the vagaries of the weather here you always meet swimmers, even in January, as it is protected from the ocean by the island of Santa Clara.
I live in San Sebastián and this beach is worth seeing, though it gets really crowded in summer. It is quite a long beach with great views of the city, it is a unique beach because it is in the middle of the city. It also has great views of the island. Apart from that there is a walkway called "paseo de la concha" and it overlooks la concha beach. One of its main drawbacks is that when there is high tide there is almost and sometimes no beach to sit on because it is underwater. This is the reason of why I've rated it with 4 stars and not 5.
Can get very crowded and full of families. The beach on the north side of town Zurriola Beach was my preference but I liek waves and less crowds. The walk around La Concha howeevr is spectacular.
This beach is beautiful regardless of the weather. Rain or shine this is a "must see" in Donostia. Breathtaking!
We visited during winter so obviously didn't have a chance to sunbathe or take a dip in the waters (although we saw people who did). The beach lines the coast of San Sebastián and the view is amazing especially when the sun is out. Can see why La Concha is a key part of the lives of the people of San Sebastián. Absolutely beautiful!
Usually tranquil waters with a superb view of the city. Good fr a swim, for a stroll, or simply to sit around and watch as the locals pass by.
Easy life, great cafe on the beach for coffee and breakfast. Old town great atmosphere and multiple tapas bars. Very relaxing
