This was one of the top landmarks on my list to visit during my short stay in Macon. The architecture is beautiful and reminded me of Europe. I was lucky enough to take a peek inside as well as they were setting up for an event. The dome ceiling is impressive.
This auditorium is known as the Macon City Auditorium in downtown Macon. I was VERY impressed with the acoustics of the venue. We went to see Third Day in concert and I was flabbergasted at the sound and lights they used. It was a perfect setting for a great concert. Concessions downstairs left a lot to be desired, but could be made better with better management. All staff was nice and attentive to any needs the audience needed.
This was my first event at this venue and would definitely return. It was easy to locate our seats, concessions, and restrooms.
We were at the Centreplex for a business meeting and, after three tries, were finally directed to the meeting room location--in the basement which had a stage, disco ball and dance floor. There was one small sign next to a delivery area marking the basement room, which was accessed through the commercial truck delivery area. We tried to access the Wifi but the basement location made it nearly impossible to maintain a signal for service. The staff served lunch, which was good, but the room was so cold that the food lost its warmth long before the meal ended. One wait staff member loudly clanged the tops of the metal coffee dispensers as the speakers were delivering their speeches.
The facility is a throwback to the 70s, the staff was polite and helpful. Be careful when chosing the bathroom as they are not well marked
The Centreplex is a pretty facility. We were there for a trade show. We go to shows very regularly. We really dislike the notion that facilities charge high prices for food and drink ($2 for a Coke, $2 for a candy bar, etc.), extra charges for parking ($10 a day) etc. You would think that venues like this would want to attract business folks to stay and maybe invest in their towns. This place did not send a positive message about Macon. Our event was booked at the same time as a monster truck show next door. Very difficult to converse with folks when the roar of loud motors was roaring through the building.
I think it was the library old book buy out. My mom and I enjoyed looking through the books. Although reading the old fashioned way is dying out. It is great to be able to enrich your mind at little cost.
They have several large rooms and smaller rooms. The main auditorium is huge.. Plenty of nice bathrooms and concession stands available..
Attended the Christmas Gift Show here and was surprised at size. Facilities were great but older. Enjoyed the show and would attend the Centreplex again. Probably for one of their gun shows
This place is Amazingly built, prepare to be in awe. They have concerts, ice skating, fairs, circuses, exhibits & huge markets.
This is the 2nd time I have come to a conference and I have no idea why the only power sources are on the outside wall. It is appalling.
Hopefully, they will put some money in this aging facility, but you can't beat any seat to view and event.
What a beautiful building. Saw Jerry seinfeld here. Yes. He came to macon. who woulda thought! Have been to 4 events here. Other than parking, a great locale.
This older, funky looking coliseum, constructed mostly of cinder blocks, is a great place to see a concert because the venue is pretty small. We were midway from the stage, 5 rows off the floor for Elton John, and were super pleased with how good the seats were. But the Centerplex is really dated and shows its age. The concession area offered the same old, same old. In this day and age, you'd think we could get beyond popcorn and hot dogs.
The sound problems have been the worse thing about the place since it was built. The only redeeming value is that they have events that do not depend on you expecting to hear them (otherwise I'd have given it one star).
