I only stopped in for a short visit here upon recommendation from other travelers. Overlooking the river and the city, this large and historic cemetery is one of the most beautiful I've visited yet. Though I caution those with large vehicles to just park your car at the entrance and walk the grounds. I drive a mini and some of the twists and turns on the hillside are precarious and the roads are not wide at all. I didn't take the time to locate the Allman gravesite but just enjoyed the serenity of the grounds.

I know people don't generally get into visiting cemeteries, but the history and magic of this place is unbelievable. I have never been to a more beautiful cemetery. Wear walking shoes and spend the afternoon on a sunny day. Adjacent to the river. Beautiful and historic gravestones. Visited for my second time just this past weekend. Well worth the walking, but be ready for the hills.

Great place to walk around it, some very beautiful grave markers. It is sad also to see the decay of some of the older graves, as the tombstones are no longer readable.

My husband and I went to visit the graves of Duane Allman and Berry Oakley. We found their graves rather quickly. I was rather surprised at the size of this place! We were going to explore further when it began to rain. We left abruptly so I was rather disappointed that we had to leave. Would return in a heartbeat though. Definitely will be returning if I ever get the chance! One word of advise though, walk don't drive!!

Very nice cemetery. Saw one person buried that was born in the 1700's. The grave stones and monuments are amazing. The grounds are well kept and the hills make the cemetery unique. The interior road can be hazardous though. I drove a Toyota Tundra (older and smaller model) along the roads in the cemetery and some are seriously tight. I actually had to have my wife exit and provide guidance to me to ensure I did not hit a wall or drive off the hill in one section. The cemetery is certainly worth a visit and for travelers on Interstate 16, it is only a few miles of the route thus making it feasible for a quick stop.

This is a must for the ABB fans visiting Macon. Duane and Berry are both buried here as well as Elizabeth Reed, inspiration for one of the best pieces of music the ABB produced (my opinion). We met some really interesting fans here.

I was working on a photography assignment and was in the cemetary taking pictures when my iternal alarm went off. There was a guy following me around and it made me very uncomfortable... I got to my car as fast as I could and got out of there. Ladies, don't go alone!I remember growing up always hearing stories about weird happenings at Rose Hill... my advice - don't go alone.

Rose Hill Cemetery is a unique cemetery in Macon, Georgia. If you like history and don't mind some hills to climb, this will make an interesting afternoon.

Civil war soldiers, rolling hills, historic graves and tombs, couple of famous Allman Brothers' band members, what's not to like. Do yourself a favor and take one of the Ramble tours if you can. You will be glad you did. A history buff's dream.

I love this place. Walk through history. Governor Nat Harris, founder of Georgia Tech, numerous politicians, philanthropists, and notables are buried in this Park. Yes, it was designed as a park that us also a Cemetery by Simri Rose. He too is buried here. Two all man Brothers are buried here. Several song titles originated from those buried here. One album cover is shot here. You must take the tour, The Rose Hill Ramble. I want to retire and be the caretaker. Beautiful statuary! Great horses, hero dogs, war veterans...the list us Macon's History. Peace and beauty!

Came to pay my respects to Duane Allman but was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the cemetery. Walked around for a bit and read some fascinating stories. Loved it!

Very well kept (and HUGE) cemetery. Driving through it can be tricky, and it's too big to "walk". Very interesting though.

Though this is a cemetery and the resting place of thousands, one forgets with the peaceful, rolling hills. We enjoyed walking around some of the narrow drives and reading the history lesson before us. The staff was nice, and just ask to be respectful and take out whatever you bring in. Beautiful area in our Macon town.

A serene, quiet cemetery with beautiful and hilly grounds. Be cautious of the narrow roads and steps to some of the sites that are below road level.

Went for the sole purpose of visiting Duane Allman and Berry Oakley's graves. Basically like all other old city cemeteries. But for a fan, worth seeing.
