Piedmont Park, much like Central Park in NYC, is best experienced in person. It is beautifully landscaped, conveniently located, and there is always something to do or see there. The neighbourhood surrounding the Park is host to a number of casual dining establishments, most of which serve up a healthy dose of people watching and excellent food.

The attractions are a little spread out so it's a long walk for younger kids. The playground is nice but the equipment is hot during the summer. Much of the lake is absolutely filthy - when we went the water was as green as the top bar of tripadvisor.com and I could have sworn some of the reptiles we saw had multiple heads and other deformaties. A lot of mud in various places - poor drainage. But, the childrens' splash area and scenery of Atlanta buildings are very nice. This place is nice but does get trampled by a lot of people.

Atlanta midtown is a very nice area and Piedmont Park offers a quiet and relaxing spot to see it all from there. Great place to take pictures.

If you are looking for a good day outing, Piedmont is the place to go. Something for all, regardless of age. Facilities are always above board and have always met friendly people there. Good gathering place for friends to sprnd the day together.

A large park which houses the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Although I visited on a cold February day, I still enjoyed walking around & seeing the view of the Atlanta skyline from the Active Oval. I imagine it would be fantastic place to hang out during warmer weather.

Piedmont Park is Atlanta's Central Park. There is so much to see and do here, especially in warmer weather, that you can easily spend a whole day here, especially with children. For most of the year, there is a farmers market on Saturday mornings to grab coffee and breakfast while listening to a live music performance. In summer, the splash fountains (free) and the pool (fee or membership) are great choices for keeping cool with kids. If you have a dog, the dog park is large and friendly. In warmer months, you can get lunch by the pool area, and there are also restaurants right on the park's border to grab a cheap meal like Willie's or Jason's Deli. The people watching is second to none, and there are all sorts of wooded nature trails to explore in addition to open fields for playing frisbee. The already large park recently expanded a couple of years ago so there's even more space to bike and jig and explore. Check out the piedmont park conservancy website for a schedule of special events. There's almost always something going on from March to December to see.

I live in midtown Atlanta and I am in Piedmont Park all the time. It was one of the first places I visited when I moved here. It is reminiscent of Central Park in New York with a view of the city skyline over the lake. Then I read it was designed by the same people so that would explain it!!On nice days the park is packed with families, kids, couples, runners, dog walkers, skaters, bikers you name it. There are many areas to walk or play, there is a kids playground and a public swimming pool. Its a thriving hub of midtown Atlanta and they keep it nice with constant additions. The park is still being developed and since I moved here 4 years ago there has been quite a lot added to the north end with large grassy areas, walkways, gazebos and a splash pad and they are still developing beyond that. If you are in town grab a blanket, sit under on of the huge, huge trees with a view of the lake and watch all the colorful and varied examples of the vast assortment of life in Midtown Atlanta.

Our daughter recently moved to this neighborhood. She is very close to the park and we love to visit her and walk in the park. It is a lovely green space in Atlanta and well maintained. Lots of activities and of course the Park Tavern is wonderful !

Beautiful way to spend an afternoon strolling around the vast green space and water sparkling in the sunlight. Restaurants nearby to eat. Special events are held there often and are listed in the AJC. I felt safe there .

Anything you want to know about Piedmont Park just ask me. There are tons of free things to do. You can have a picnic on Oak hill, run around the active oval, or take your furry friend to the dog park. It is a growing park and is gorgeous all times of year. The city view from the lower field and oak hill are the best. Join Power Up Piedmont for free bootcamp style workouts! It is all so much fun. There is a festival every weekend and not to mention the green market! Wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

After being inside for so long, Atlanta finally got some nice weather and we took advantage of it to go to Piedmont Park for the afternoon. Spend as long as you want. The park itself is free and it is a great place for a picnic or to play basketball, tennis, soccer, frisbee, or whatever. Great place to go for a walk, especially around the lake. There is also a large dog park with LOTS of dogs. There is a fenced in section for large dogs and a separate fenced section for small dogs. The Sage Parking deck is off Monroe drive: Daily parking rates are: Drop-off period (0 - 30 minutes) no charge Each additional 30 minutes $ 1.00 Maximum daily rate $15.00 You can also park along the streets surrounding the park during certain hours but you'll have to read the small signs if you do that, they vary by street. You can also take the MARTA to either Midtown or Arts Center stations. You're better off taking the MARTA than driving.Directions are at this website: http://www.piedmontpark.org/visit/directions.html

This is a great place to go DURING THE WEEK so you can actually find a place to park and the areas are not too busy.

Wide open spaces with paved paths to escape the asphalt jungle of the city which surrounds it. Beautiful lakes and ponds, event spaces, great mature trees provide shaded enclaves plus game fields for citizens and visitors alike. Historic with a Preservation Society standing guard, each year brings new improvements to maintaining this treasure for all to enjoy. Various clusters of food vendor/restaurants, "hidden" parking deck. Walking distance to various neighborhoods surrounding the park including Midtown Promenade for shopping and movies.

A bit of tranquility in the city. I have always loved Piedmont Park, from childhood to middle age. It has seen a lot of improvement over the years and is a great place to just stroll, to picnic, to meet friends, to bike, to play ball, to see a concert, to go to a festival..... Always interesting characters and happy people.
