Great course, superb condition, beautiful and challenging. Will be sure to play here again, no question.
We played the Ranch course. Beautiful track, well maintained, greens a bit hard and thin but rolled true. Price is reasonable, staff courteous and friendly, pace of play very good. A very good golfing experience, highly recommend.
We'd been to Tonto Verde before and chose the Peaks course this time. The greens are the best we've experienced in Arizona this season. The course was a bit tighter than the Ranch but still has plenty of room to stay in fairways. As a 25 handicap I played the Gold tees which enabled me to manage the carries and play bogie golf. My husband is a 13 and played the whites and was pleased with his 81. The course is in wonderful shape and the views were spectacular. Mountains to the east and blue skies everywhere. The staff was wonderful and treated us as we were members. Had lunch on the patio enjoying those same views and an eagle swooped in over the pond!
Two quite different, scenic, fun but challenging golf courses. Beautiful views of 4-peaks, good price, courteous staff. The head pro Jeff Ostlund is first rate.
I've played golf all over the Valley and this place has certainly proved to be worth the drive. Two courses with contrasting styles. The greens on both were smooth and fast...loved the layouts; challenging but fair. Customer service was excellent from the guys outside to the golf shop staff to the bartender pouring me a cold one at the end of the round. Don't let your GPS scare you away from this one...you won't be disappointed in this hidden gem at the end of the road.
My wife and I were in Arizona a few weeks ago. We found the most fabulous Golf & Stay place we have ever been! Two awesome golf courses, called The Ranch,,,,and The Peaks. Pure desert golf at it's best! Service was as good as most 5-star Resorts we've stayed at in the past. A great 4-star restaurant, with a changing menu daily. One drawback,,,no breakfast,so don't get there hungry for an early morning tee-time...But the lunch bar grill was great, lots of good sandwich choices. Evening meals were the best!Getting back to the service,,,,I have never had such nice warm feeling from the time we arrived at the bag-drop,,,until we got to the first tee. Everyone on staff greeted us like private club members,,,especially the white haired guy on the driving range. He made us feel right at home,,explaining all the virtues of belonging to Tonto Verde Golf Club, and all the amenities that come with being a member there. If this sounds like "heaven" for retiring golfers,it is!The white haired guy called himself the "Master Starter",,,we call him a wonderful ambassador to golf style living at it's finest! We are now rethinking our retirement plans,,Tonto Verde has just too much to offer. Ron
On Christmas Eve Day, we golfed one of the two golf courses at Tonto Verde. The maintenance and condition of the course was excellent. Beautiful fairway grass, raked sand bunkers, and greens in great condition. There were 5 tee boxes to choose from, making this course a challenge or a fun easy round as any level golfer would want. It is hard to take your eyes off the mountain vistas that surround the course. Tonto Verde is 10 minutes east of North Scottsdale down Dynamite Road. Tee times are easy to access on Tonto Verde's website, plus there is a video tour of the golf courses on the website worth taking a look at.
We played both courses and found them to be challenging and in great shape. The greens were even more challenging! The scenery was equally impressive and we enjoyed looking at the beautiful homes. Everyone...Pro Shop staff, starter, ranger, beverage cart person...were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!
Tonto Verde is a fabulous gated Arizona golf course community which my wife and I are privileged to be part time residents, for several years as our vacation home, now our 6 month early retirement paradise. There are two great 18-golf courses, a terrific newly renovated clubhouse with all amenities including two dining facilities featuring great food and a staff dedicated to maximum customer satisfaction. The beautiful area is surrounded by beautiful mountains with spectacular sunrise and sunset views. Tonto Verde is removed from the hectic pace of other Arizona communities, yet a short 8 mile drive to Fountain Hills for shopping, services and other necessities. We are very blessed to have found Tonto Verde where we continue to enjoy the best days of our lives.
The golf courses are in great condition with beautiful mountian views. The club house is of beautiful s/w design and the dinning is excellent. To top it off all the staff were friendly and efficient. Gotta love it :)
The course is beautiful and challenging. However, one of the starters was on our back to hurry us along during the 18 holes we played. We were right on schedule. We know this is part of his job; However he could be polite about it. Yuck--he was very rude. The club does have two ice machines and two cold water dispensers on the first nine holes. The bar and grille is very nice and the wait staff wonderful.
Played the Ranch course. Really enjoyed the scenery and the course conditions were outstanding. Lush fairways and really nice greens. Not overly difficult but plenty of challenge. Great staff, cool place.
The staff was very cordial. They were booked solid but they got us out a bit early with a single who was very nice and helpful. The course was a couple of days away from being shutdown for overseeding but was still quite playable. We saw with envy the course that had been overseeded and would be ready next week and it looked great. The course has some challenging holes and some beautiful views. Well worth the 50$ fee we paid
We really enjoyed the Ranch course. We found it challenging, yet forgiving. The course is surrounded by some beautiful scenery and nice homes. We are looking forward to the course reopening in the next few months so we can play again.
Have played this course before, and as in my previous experience, I was not disappointed with the golf course itself. It was in great shape, and very playable. However, the pace of play was beyond acceptable. They booked four groups that had 6 and 5 players per group in front of our group and expected us to enjoy this experience?? Come on now! Who does that? Why not just move us to the 10th and let us play on without delay? It made for a pretty crappy experience. Nothing ruins a round of golf worse that extremely slow play!!!!! Then to top it off, when we finished (around 3:30-4:00 pm), I went to use the mens room in the clubhouse and the golf shop pro told me he was closing, and when I insisted on using the restroom he told me "well hurry-up, because I'm closing". Recommendation: Do not play on Sunday's!!
