historic downtown and railroad district

My husband's a train buff so he enjoyed seeing trains go by while I poked my head in different stores. Lots to see and lots of restaurants.

Art galleries, the chocolate shop, the friendly people, Macy's bohemian coffee shop and particularly the local artist's cooperative gallery. Great deals and lovely people.

There is a fund of history in the downtown area. I loved the informative plaques on the buildings. There has been a determined effort to maintain the older buildings. We spent about an hour just wandering around

The buildings all seem to be historic, however, the shops are very up-to-date. From sushi to tacos, new clothing to vintage, haircuts to eyebrow threading, this place has it all!

It was an interesting concept, and it brings a lot of Phoenix tourists to town, so it is a financial/fun/frustrating thing. Many residents complained about the streets being blocked off as we wandered around town. The downtown area needs a reboot! Not that many stores that carry items of interest to tourists. How about a Native American Gallery bigger than a tattoo parlor?. How about a Native American Cuisine restaurant with dishes from the the local Hopi, Navajo, Anasazi Native Americans? Flagstaff used to have the All-Indian Pow-Wow on July 4th which was well attended when I was in high school and college in Flagstaff. With all the talent and resources in Northern Arizona, how has Flagstaff lagged so far behind? Go take a look at Santa Fe New Mexico. Many cities have highlighted Native American cultures and the Hispanic culture to benefit all, Flagstaff needs to do better than it did 40 years ago when I lived there. Sign me, "Disappointed in Flag".

Cool place to shop and eat and great bars for a cocktail or microbrews. Always have a good time in Flagstaff.

Arrived to the historic downtown area about 7pm, and walked the 4 blocks that make up the downtown area. Had dinner at Bigfoot BBQ. Went out on the street around 9:45 to watch the Giant Pine Cone drop off the Weatherford hotel at 10pm (East coast version). It was worth the effort to ring in the new year in a small town.

Nice shops with contents from creative and talented artists-some items are on the expensive side, of course, but wonderful to browse and see what's possible. Friendly folks, bot too hard to find parking, good walking, looking in windows, too. There are several restaurants that looked interesting. The Visitor Center staff is very helpful and friendly.

Good places to eat and drink. People are extremely friendly and helpful. The rail station has a interesting museum, small but worth stopping in to visit

Went in November when they were having an art festival. Most places had a sort of open house. Very interesting and fun to walk around.

All you can do in a half a day visit, nothing special I am afraid..The Visitor Centre located on the old rail station are helpful.

Many restaurants in the area, and some very old and scenic buildings. Best seen on foot - parking can be had at the train station for a central location or most restaurants have adequate parking. Some neat shops along the way. Just a fun little walk into a bygone era.

There are so many interesting shops, and the downtown is very walkable. We always stop in a brewery (or two) while shopping, have a bite to eat, and it's always fun. The people in Flagstaff are friendly and the architecture is quaint and authentic.

There are some older buildings and a variety of shops but not many. Parking is often hard to find. There is street parking for a 2 hour maximum but free. There are a few lots here and there that are also free but often full. Some shops are closed on Sunday. There are some restaurants south of the train track and quite a few breweries in the area. If you are visiting Flagstaff, it's worth walking around the area.

Small quaint area with historical Route 66 decor. Local dining establishments with laid back atmosphere. Feel very welcome as a visitor. Very dog friendly city. Merchants allow dogs into their stores and give plenty of attention.
