Stopped here for a suggestion on an outdoor activity in the area. Friendly volunteer gave an excellent suggestion. There are also many brochures to choose from for points of interest.
Linda, the volunteer who helped us on our visit, was extremely knowledgeable about the area. She showed us the best hiking trails on a map and also pointed us to the best places to get home cooking. More detailed hiking/biking maps are also available there for serious enthusiasts.
They seemed to have answers for everything, but did not know much at all about the schools or the school performances or games. We would have enjoyed hearing about their orchestra/choir/band/drama depts. or sports schedule, but then again, Schools are not a business to be promoted, generally.
If you visit Prescott make sure to stop by the Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center on the corner across from Courthouse Square. They have great maps and brochures of the area and there are walking tours available for free!
We visited the CoC to get recommendations for restaurants that could handle catering and large groups on short notice. The staff gave excellent recommendations and were a big help. The CoC has information about everything Prescott, and is right in the center of town.
Although a little busy at times and hard to find a parking place on busy days in town, the chamber has a wealth of information for the Prescott area as well as Northern Arizona. They have a great staff and phone books for people who need them.
The staff was very informative about the Prescott area and recommended several sites to visit. We took their advice and were pleasantly surprised by the amount of information they offered. We would recommend stopping and obtaining information about the area as your visit will be worth the time it takes to get it.
Went to a Chamber mixer, this is a small community with big love for their local business owners. It's worth joining the Chamber.
Prescott is a former Capitol of Arizona. It's historic downtown has a city block call Whiskey Row. They have a collection of bars and hotels that date to around 1870. The Palace is the most historic bar in AZ that has a old wooden bar, card room, rooms for ladies of the night, country music and black & white photos of pre 1900's. they have photos of the Earp brothers , Little Egypt (famous stripper) & many more people living there at the time. He courthouse is right across the street. Prescott also has the World's Oldest Rodeo that takes place in the summer. Watson Lake a few miles out of town is a beautiful lake with boulders surrounding the lake down into the water.
Needed a street map, headed over here, easy to find, it's on the south side of the square. If you can't find a brochure here that has something you enjoy, you're not looking very hard LOL. Got the map and some other information as well and was on my way quickly.
Alem de ser um lugar para relaxar, aos fins de semana e possivel desfrutar de uma feirinha de artesanato feita, acredito eu, pelos proprios moradores locais.
