We were suprised how far away it was and arrived on time anyway, only to be told they were running one hour late.. They did manage to get out out 1/2 hour later but the course was very slow going. Greens were okay. Fairways were average to dry. Expected better for the money.
A very nice golf course located just off I-8 at exit #12. We had a great day of golfing with family members. Not so crowded that we felt we had to hurry along.
My wife and I have been playing at Mesa Del Sol since 1987 as snowbirds. This is a mature golf course with physical room for improvements. However, in all that time, the green fees this season are the lowest they have ever been and more than make up for the condition of the course. Mesa Del Sol is not a cow pasture, it is a good, solid golf course. Water on 50% of the holes with several long and wide fairways which will engage the abilities of all the golfers who play here. There are several other courses available within a 25 mile radius, but the Mesa is just as challenging as any of them!
Played this past Saturday paid $35 with a cart and that is about what is is worth. The greens have at least two different types of grass with lots of bare spots. The fairways are green and thin while the rough is a combination of weeds and dormant grass. Do get me wrong we did have fun and got our moneys worth. Love to play this course aging if it ever gets back to being in good shape.
We were looking for a driving range in the foothills and were directed to this facility. You can join their player development program (PDP) which entitles you to all the balls you want to hit for a month, discounts in pro shop, and golf clinics run by Bud Wicks their certified instructor. It costs about $75 bucks for a couple for a month, and clinics are held twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays. Its a great value and certainly has helped my game. You will also get to use their very well kept putting green.
For the price, this is a very nice golf course. It was well cared for when we played it. It plays hard enough to be challenging to much golfers but is still forgiving enough to let the hacker have an enjoyable day. While part of the course is built up with homes, parts are still open. If you are in Yuma, it is worth checking out.
I do enjoy this old Arnold Palmer course, but I feel for the homeowners that line this track. you can see from the volume of broken roof tiles that this residential course was built way too tight to the fairways for today's golf club technology. that's a shame for them!
$56 with cart is ridiculous when the Course in terrible shape. So many more options. Course is brown and neglected. Have you heard of winter rye for a little green.
Every hole is unique in that it is surrounded by beautiful homes and landscaping. There is a view of the ever changing beauty of the foothills from most fairways. The rates are reasonable depending on the time of year for a championship golf course. Every hole is challenging and at times forgiving even for the inexperienced golfer.
I've played on this course since 1998 and it has changed ownership several times. The course has steadily declined and is now in the worst shape yet. The fairways are crunchy with little good turf under the ball, even in the middle of a fairway. Marshals are rarely seen and carts are allowed to drive all over including around the greens. Cart path only signs are routinely ignored. This is a bermuda turf course, but much of the grass has been allowed to die and no observable attempts at rehabilitation. The course needs to invoke a 90 degree rule for carts and enforce keeping carts at least 50 yards from greens. The course is now under new ownership and perhaps the new owners will turn this course around. Easily the poorest fairways of all the courses in the area.
This is a beautiful golf course surrounded by the mountains and gorgious homes. They also have a very nice cafe and dining area for after your round of golf.
We liked the course but as it was our first time there would really have appreciated being told when we made out tee times that we were not allowed coolers for food as we have had to bring our lunches to most courses that we have played in the area and as far away as Blythe etc. We were asked by yourstarter if we brought sandwiches to McDonalds which I didn't find that comment necessary or very nice. We then put our coolers back in our cars and proceeded to wait for the food cart which took quite sometime and had the choice of ham sandwiches and 2 of us bought sandwiches and the other 5 of us waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for the cart to come back as she was out of food. There are a lot of us in this day and age who eat healthy which means not eating white bread, or processed meat or cheese and you certainly gave us NO CHOICES for any healthy food choice at all. I really think the nicer thing to do today was to say yes we could eat the healthy sandwiches we had brought and tell us to remember not to bring the coolers next time. That way we would have the option of eating before our tee time which by the way was 11:00 am. or buying your not very healthy sandwiches. Please put some thought into this as we are a much healthier eating population these days. We would like to golf your course again but will probably not do so as we have golfed other courses in this area and been treated much nicer and they actually seemed to appreciate our business as they are in the business of selling golf games and not food and liquor. Thank you for your attention. Peanut1945@hotmail.com
My husband and i live in the yuma area and went to look at a home for sale on this golf course. the golf course seemed very run down. we currently live on a different golf course in the yuma area right now and we see grounds keepers out every morning as would be expected with a golf course, there is no comparison in the quality of these two courses. we were very disappointed and will most likely not look at any other homes in this area.
Arrived 30 minutes prior to our tee time. Many people were waiting as there were no carts. The #1 tee was open, but no carts. We were told they were waiting for the Ladies club to return carts. We waited over an hour after our scheduled tee time to start our round. The front nine is very bare of grass, lots of dirt! The center of the fairways on the back were in better shape. When questioned we were told "it's like this most of the time". No one really seemed to care that their paying customers were not very happy to wait so long to tee off. The first 8 holes went pretty smooth, then we caught up to the "5-some" in front of the 4-some and then the waiting began. The couple we started out with dropped out at #12 as they were tired of waiting and it was adjacent to #18 tee box and easy access to the clubhouse. We decided to finish it out and couldn't believe we finished up before we needed flashlight! Won't return until they resolve their lack of cart issues.
Open to the public. A signature golf club in the heart of the foothills area
