We came to see Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble perform at the Symphony Center. We had awesome seats and felt like we really part of the show. Actually, I do not think there is a bad seat in the house! It's a great venue and beautiful too. It is well situated just across the street from the Art Institute if Chicago. We really enjoyed ourselves!

Besides being an architectural treasure, the Center hosts a world class orchestra. We were fortunate to attend a Friday afternoon concert that featured Ligeti, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky. That evening the Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Mah performed.

Went there to see a sold out jazz conzert. The symphony center is a great venue. The seats behind the stage are a little different, wouldn't sit in them again but that is just me. Others around us liked them.

It was amazing to come to Symphony Hall in Chicago and feel like a part of history. Thinking of all of the amazing conductors and musicians that have graced this place and the past and now the present. The hall itself is beautiful inside and out. I heard Maestro Muti conduct the CSO in a concert of Scriabin and Tchaikovsky. The acoustics were terrific and the orchestra was incredible. The Tchaikovsky 6th Symphony is one of my favorites. I have 4 different recordings of it and have heard it live at least 3 times and performed it myself (clarinet). This was by far the best performance I've heard of this work.

My husband and went to hear Beethoven's 5th symphony here. Great old building with so much character. I enjoyed myself so music, the music was so good that it was over before I knew it. I didn't want the music to end. The acoustics were fabulous

We went the the Chicago Symphony for the first time this past weekend. We have seen this orchestra in other venues. As always, the performance was fantastic. While the acoustics were fine, we were surprised that the "home base" was so small. However, there is an advantage to that. It would appear that even from the sides, you can get the full depth of the music. Next time, we'll give it a try ... and there will be a next time, lots of them.

I was very excited for my first CSO concert in January 2015, and I was not disappointed!The Symphony Center facility is lovely; it's a classic concert hall with beautiful details and good acoustics. We sat in the very top balcony, and I was pleased to see that the steep tiers of the balcony mean that you have a good view of the orchestra despite being on the top level. I also appreciated that several levels had restrooms and bars, so you could enjoy a cocktail prior to the show or at intermission without having to walk far or bear long lines.Of course, you to go the hear the music, and the CSO did not disappoint! Our program featured a wonderful Beethoven piano concerto and a work by Elgar. The orchestra was wonderful--they have a rich, full sound. I was particularly struck by the quality of the French horns and the woodwind section. I enjoyed their interpretations of the works we heard and look forward to future concerts, as this was one of the best sounding orchestras I have had the pleasure to hear.

I love every show I've seen here. The shows are HOLLOWED HAUNTS, and even better, WELCOME YULE. (Don't look for that show anymore, though, they're replacing it with something else.) But the building is nice, and the crowd is more than decent. They even hand out cookies or something after the show. Love this place!

I am a patron of Grant Park Orchestra and really enjoy the performances. There is just something about Symphony Center and the CSO is just magical. If you never attended a concert here, you should.

This orchestra is superb, one of the best in the world. The performance was impeccable. I will visit again

Outstanding for 20 years....2014 last year but hopeful that whatever is chosen in its place is even better and a "family" event with appropriate pricing. My kids loved Welcome Yule and it became an annual family tradition and grew to include friends.

If you are traveling in Chicago during the December holidays, definitely include the Welcome Yule performance. It will put you in the holiday mood!

This is our favorite music venue in Chicago--bar none. The concert hall itself is fabulous, with good sight lines. As is well-known, the CSO is among the best in the world, but other concerts--the piano series, jazz concerts, other special classical performances--are also worth a visit. We have actually become subscribers in the last several years, and we are excited to also have tickets for "CSO Goes to the Movies," where the orchestra accompanies the showing of a film in one case, "The Godfather"). If you are visiting Chicago, make a point of coming to Symphony Center.

I had a season ticket with a number of performances. Muti's Verdi Requiem was probably the most amazing classical concert i have ever attended anywhere. The quality of musical performance rivals the best orchestras in the world and you won't be disappointed. Sadly, the average age of attendees is creeping upwards.If you are under 50, you are definitely in the minority.

I've been to several Yule concerts the last few years at the CSO and it's become a mini tradition in our family. Granpa is not able to make it now, so this year I went solo, as it's still a great complement to my celebration and I enjoy Chicago at Christmas.The addition of a hymn, O Come All Ye Faithful and, especially, the Messiah, were welcome and well done.The rousing renditions of Christmas classics and favourites with full voices choirs, full orchestra and complete with dancers was truly in the American style. Even the references to anyone non-Chicagoan as only able to "dream" about being in Chicago seemed a sentiment of a city still self conscious with a second city self image. The weak effort at humour of the two emcees in the second half was unnecessary(reference the conductor whom, we are told, went to school just to be able to count). I could take all that although the program would have been better without.What ruined it for me at the end was the tasteless coupling of the military with Christmas; the duo of a soldier arm in arm with Santa Claus. It seemed a contorted twisting of the Christmas message and I, personally, did not buy a ticket to hear an episode of propaganda in my Christmas cheer; it was a downer for me. I hope, in the future, this reference is removed and the bright sprit of the music left to stand on it's own. This is what I come to hear.
