Played five courses while in Naples and this was our favorite. In excellent condition. Wide fairways and nice greens make this course an excellent choice for golfers of all levels. Would definitely play again. Only draw back is cafe which has a limited selection of items for lunch.
Played Panther Run on Wednesday and was really disappointed. The starter had a real attitude. It took almost 5 hours to play. The course was in reasonable shape but some of the traps could use sand. Our foursome got a $5.00 voucher towards food and drink but the cafe was closed when we finished. We returned our carts on finishing and tipped the bag boy to clean our clubs and put them at the bag drop. When I played yesterday my clubs were still dirty. When we went into the pro shop after finishing we were informed that we couldn't buy anything because their computers had been turned off- nice customer service. All in all not a good experience and certainly not worth the one hour drive. Will not be returning.
Stayed in Fort Myers Beach and drove here for a 9am tee time. If you play this course early the drive will be nice with very little traffic. Course was a fantastic gem in Florida. They have 6 sets of tees, so you can challenge yourself. Fairways are pretty forgiving and the greens are some of the truest I have ever played on. I kept trying to find imperfections on the greens, but I never saw one. Course has great wildlife and most of the holes have no houses around. For the value I would have to say this is the best course I could find.
This track is worth the drive from Fort Myers or Naples. Played mid December and greens were excellent, as was the rest of the course. Although there are homes along some of the fairways, they are not crammed in and don't detract too much from the scenery like with most courses I've seen so far in SW Florida. There are plenty of lakes, canals, and preserve areas, with lots of wildlife. The fairways are wide and the course is not too punishing - fun to play. A little expensive considering how far out it is, but not compared to the prices at some other courses that are not as nice.
We are weekend golfers and find this course very forgiving. While it is not easy, it does have wide fairways and you can easily stay out of trouble. It is off the beaten path but for the price, it is worth the drive. We have never had an issue with slow play which leads me to believe they don't over book as many courses do, especially in season. If you have never been to Ava Maria it is certainly an experience. Allow enough time to walk the square, have lunch and visit the church.
Played there today. Three months in Naples playing many public courses. We leave for home (Canada) tomorrow. Wish we'd found Panther Run much earlier. Beautiful wide fairways, fast greens and six tee boxes. Fifty minute drive from south Naples but worth the trip.
Nice course, reasonable fees. I like that you can play from 6 different tee boxes. I feel like I am playing a different course each time I play from a different tee box.
Nice course in great shape with 6 sets of tees for just about every level of golfer. Lot of water but not always in play. Little pricey but that's Naples in Feb.
Just returned from a 5 day golf trip to Naples, FL. Played Panther Run Golf Club located about 12 miles east of I75 in Naples. The course was in excellent condition and the greens rolled fast & true. Wide fairways and 5 tee box options allows golfers with low as well as high handicaps to enjoy the round. The back tees (No. 1 tee set) play about 7,500 yards and the No 2 tee set play around 6,650 yards. Bag drop & pro shop staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Well stocked pro shop if you need to purchase golf balls, shoes, clubs, shirts or hats. Greens fees (incl cart & range balls) was under $100 ($79 early morning special). I've played this course about 10 times in the last 4 years and look forward to playing it again in February. It's worth the drive.
Course is in great shape. Greens are perfect. Staff friendly. Worth the drive to play there. Price is perfect.
This is a classic South Florida course. It is not links or park style. It has a wide open lay out forgiving but long. Straight hitters will be rewarded but they always are. Many water hazards add to the visual appeal. Players can minimize trouble by playing to your strengths without paying to much for small mistakes. Fast and uneven greens keep the course honest. The Troon managed staff were friendly and gracious. Ave Maria is off the beaten path. If your visiting the College or casino or run into a deal it is a great place to play.
We were lucky in finding this hidden jewel. Played a round with several local residents on a spring vacation outing when we asked, What are the two or three best, shouldn't miss golf courses in the area? Without hesitation, both stated, Panther Run. We took advantage of the afternoon discounted fees and tee'd off at 1:30pm. Great conditions with true greens, water holes, and five sets of tees so that we played within our handicaps. I will include this course on my next trip to the area. Snack bar with healthy foods and snacks would move this to 5 stars!
Considering the course design, the condition(always excellent) and the number of tee choices this course could qualify for an LPGA or PGA Seniors event. Only downside is very limited food and beverage choices. I've played here many dozen's of times and highly recommend it
My buddies and I played the Panther Run golf course and had a lot of fun. The course is in fabulous condition, as is the entire development. Widest fairways I've ever seen, which enabled me to play an entire round with one ball!!! I'm an 18 handicap. Staff was super friendly. Definitely worth the trip and will return next year for sure.
This is a challenging but fair golf course to play. There are 6 sets of tees that range from very long to very wimpy ... I played #3 (have a 15 handicap) and my wife #5 (30 handicap). the fairways are quite generous from those tees, but for the guys who like to hit from the back tees, there are some very challenging carries. The toughest part of the course is its greens. They are undulating and require care when reading and putting. Golfers who are fooled by the wide fairways may be surprised to see their scores when finished.
