i love the Painted Fish Gallery because you get to know the owners, Bill and Linda Renc, who also happen to be two of the artists represented here. They are very talented, friendly and down to earth. I really like supporting local shops and local artists when I travel. Since I am blessed to be able to spend quite a bit of time in Dunedin each year, The Painted Fish Gallery is always a place I make time for. I have one of Bill's paintings hanging in my Pennsylvania home and it helps me keep that Dunedin feeling even in the dead of Winter. I highly recommend you check it out.
Love the Grouper he paints on his canvases. This is a true Floridian artist. The colors are pop out in your face!!! A must have collection in your home, office or business.
I can not say enough about the painted fish. My wife and I have lived winters in Dunedin since 1992. We have seen them all and Bill Renc is the best value and quality around. Bill and his wife Linda frame the art you pick, and when we got home and hung it we were so impressed by the value. Last year we comissioned Bill to do a painting for us and we were again very pleased by what he created.
I've been to the Painted Fish for Bill Renc's prints many times over the years, and I think more people who are visiting in our area should go see it.There's a lot of Florida Art, and prints are much more inexpensive than you would think. I can get nice little framed prints for gifts for less than $20, and everything in there is handmade by the artists themselves. It's quite a mix of art and the calligraphy although not as showy as the Florida palms, fish and architecture, it's amazing work.I send people there for souvenirs of their visit because they could spend the same amount as at the t-shirt stand and get something worth keeping forever. The Painted Fish has been there 20 years, I think, and these artists are known regionally, but the gallery is kind of a secret to people outside Dunedin. It's in the historic shopping block where the walking path crosses Main St. And, very important here, there's big shade trees in front of the gallery.Downtown Dunedin's a little gem for visitors, and it's nice to see people go back home knowing this part of Florida isn't all aesthetically challenged--I depend on tripadvisor always when traveling, and I'd love to get more tips about what to see, easy to miss great local stuff that doesn't advertise, so I did this home-turf review in hopes it'll encourage advice about what's cool to do--
