This pier IS Flagler Beach! There is an entrance fee and you can buy bait and rent poles right there. People have pulled in some large fish - recently a large baracuda! There is a new restaurant, The Funky Pelican, that just opened right off the side of the pier. And beach goers can take a dip on the beach to the right of the pier. It is in the heart of Flagler Beach and there are restaurants and shops in waling distance. It is a delightful little town.
We were just a little skeptical because this pier is not as long as it used to be. A hurricane destroyed part of it a few years back. We had a great time fishing here. We went twice and caught 3 small sharks (largest was 2 1/2 feet long) and a whiting. But we saw someone catch a 38 lb jack and someone else had 4 flounder. We also got to see someone bring in a small octopus that was walking across the pier! Would definitely recommend.
Flagler Beach is a wonderful experience for all the senses. Easy, free parking right next to the dunes. Beautiful sand and surf. Clean restrooms at the pier. Many restaurants and two ice cream shops within walking distance. Quiet, calm family atmosphere! Love it!
This Is a very clean place people are friendly and the food is good every where. the pier is nice if you want to fish and the beaches are endless.
Everything, The Beach was wonderful. I loved the color of the sand. The restarant was alsome. Best Pizza I ever had in my life. I love Pizza & this was honestly the best. The pool was like a sana. Can't wait to go back next week for a visit with one of my bestfriends.
We did a day trip to Flagler Beach with my parents from Orlando. It was a bit longer of a drive than I would have liked, but the experience was worth it. The sands there are pink from the crushed shells (so this is not a shelling beach, they are all small if you find any). But this is a great place to find sharks teeth. There were a lot of people stooping like they do in Sanibel, but for teeth not shells. The water was still chilly in comparison to where we go in Coco and Tampa, but was a great day to catch some sun.
Stumbled across this stretch of coast en route from st Augustine to Daytona and have to say it is idyllic. Saw diving pelicans, burrowing crabs and dolphins about 30 yards off shore. Other than Naples on the west coast I think it's the nicest stretch of coast of Florida including the keys.
