Nice tourist spot, dining options right on the marina. Casual atmosphere. On selected evenings there is live entertainment in the open air on the marina, just 'cop a swat' and enjoy the ocean view, people watching or tasting the different foods from various vendor kiosks. There is also a Farmer's Market which occurs once a month on Saturday where you'll find plenty of tasty treats and arts and crafts.
Downtown Fort Pierce is thriving, alive. Lots to see and do, don't miss going to the Farmer's Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays!
The downtown area of Ft. Pierce is safe and upscale. The Sunrise Theater and the nearby restaurants are very upscale and safe. As you venture away from the center of town I am not to sure about that area. Heading over to Hutchinson Island is a dream. Great restaurants, beaches, condos, etc.
Restaurants, marina, farmers market every Saturday, Friday Fest 1st Friday of every month, and Sunrise Theater all in one spot.
Lovely town with a nice theater for special concerts & shows. Wednesdays there is a waterfront Green Market that we really enjoyed.
Fort Pierce is a small town with a lot to offer. The downtown area is quaint with one upscale store (Roslow's), a variety of shops offering beads, crafts, an art expo and an eclectic range of restaurants that includes two Thai, an authentic Italian gelato storefront, bistro (indoor/outdoor dining), Italian, Fish and Sushi, Tikki on the water and waterfront dining at the marina as well as several others just the other side of the causeway. There are aquariums and small museums close by as well. Every Saturday there is a weekend market with farm fresh foods and crafts that appeal to a variety of tastes and pocketbooks. A smaller market is held on Wednesday eves. (Both are held year round)Once a month 'in season' (winter), there are historic trolley tours where the mayor often rides with guests to tell the story of the development of historic downtown Fort Pierce and the Lincoln Park District. Lots of empty storefronts and sad-looking buildings mar the city of Ft Pierce. The main Post Office is easily the scariest place I've been in years! Filthy dirty.
Saturday morning farmer's market is not to be missed! Don't eat breakfast before you go-the amount of offerings for freshly cooked delicious breakfast and freshly roasted coffee are a real treat. You can also stock up on enough fresh and local groceries to last a week! Downtown offers an easy walk to multiple fun waterside restaurants and quaint and unique local shops-definitely worth a visit!
Real downtown atmosphere without the touristy hype. There are stores and restaurants and fun places to visit. Perfect for exploring and strolling.
So we took a walk in downtown Ft Pierce. A ton of money has been spent on city hall, circuit court , lawyers offices, fancy schmancy offices and hmmm that pretty much covers it. Sorry to say but shopping is not there. Most places are empty. What the heck? Across the tracks it is so low income everyone we have talked to advised us not to walk there. We drove to Vero Beach we drove to Port St. Lucie. Both are very successful vibrant communities. Ft. Pierce appears to be the downtown that tries but didn't succeed. The market on Saturday is a huge success and totally worthwhile attending.,
I had lived here once before, in the early 90's and it had many more shops but no shoppers. The results were business failures. Now the downtown is remodeled and lovely and there are still no great draws. Restauants, yes and the theatre is fab oh and the lovely farmers market but I thought the finished product would be more like Stuart. Let me also say that the revitalization of the waterfront space makes for a lovely stroll.
If you are in Fort Pierce on a Saturday you have to go to the Farmers Market in Downtown Fort Pierce. They have vendors and they also have approximately 20 plus food stands. You shop on one side and then go to the other side and eat by the water. They also have live music. Its only on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Get there early for parking. You will love it.
The beaches & Jetty are beautiful! Downtown Ft.Pierce has been renovated, and many historical buildings to see.
The downtown area is really taking shape with a lot of progress for a beautiful walking downtown area. Local businesses including eating places are popping up and making the local area a fun place.
On my trans-American charity cycle ride from Miami, FL to San Francisco, CA through the southern states, it is always nice to find somewhere to unwind at the end of a long day in the saddle!Spent a very pleasant couple of hours here, few drinks whilst reading a newspaper, followed by a bit of a wander/stretchDuring sunset/dusk the place takes on a calming atmosphere. The stillness with wonderful views will allow anyone to relax and find their 'happy place'Highly recommendedEnjoy
