Rate 0ne of the best golf courses in Florida! Mission Inn Resort offers three Resturants, over a 200 room hotel, banquet facilities, and holds many conferences.
My groom and his "buddies" loved the courses at the Mission Inn. Well kept fairways and manicured greens. Club house service was friendly and appreciated.
My husband and I went to the Christmas Eve buffet and dance and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The Mission Inn and it's property is beautiful, the cocktail party portion of the evening was lovely, the buffet which had foods and wines from 4 different countries was delicious and the music had us dancing all night.
One of the best Golf Courses in Florida. El Campeon is unrivaled and yet it's Sister course is top notch too. Can't go wrong.
I have been there several times and always impressed. A little pricy; but, worth the trip and money.
This was a long weekend of golf at this resort for an all-girl party of 12. We so enjoyed staying in the penthouse which was a huge three bedroom complete with two living rooms, a dining room and a kitchen. The highlight was that it included a huge screened in porch with plenty of seating for us to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Golf was great and the breakfast buffet was super! Had a great time. We are planning it for next year!
This is a golfer's paradise. Small, quiet town with a great resort and 2 championship golf courses. I live 10 minutes away from Mission Inn and my husband loves to play on the courses. The golf courses are a challenge, but they are also beautifully landscaped. If you want a quiet getaway where you can play golf and relax--this is the place to go!!! (not to mention that the theme parks are only a short 30 minute or so drive away).
they're hosting the 2014 NCAA championships and now I know why. Very fun and challenging course...who would guess it was built in 1917. The greens were just simply fabulous. A few sparse places but for the most part immaculate. For Fl, it had a lot of high changes, lots of tree lined fairways... And water. Truly one of the most enjoyable rounds I've played with several memorable holes... Not just one. highly recommend
My husband and I wanted a quick getaway. We live in So. Florida and wanted to find a place not too far away (South Fla. takes forever to get out of state). My husband wanted to play golf, so we looked online for a stay and play. Mission Inn was where we chose, prices were reasonable. We arrived and from then on, the people were so nice, the hotel, golf courses, food... ahhh the food, best steak and lamb chops, room was great, and playing golf on pristine courses, the golf cart was brand new and rode like a Cadillac. We had a blast, and I brought back all literature so I can share with friends and family what a charming hidden Gem this is. I didn't mention breakfast, lol sounds like I love to eat, no.... I appreciate good food, and breakfast was first class. If you are planning a wedding, convention, conference or just a nice little getaway, Mission Inn should be a serious consideration. Thumbs up for this wonderful facility. Looking forward to my next trip there.
Want water, you got it here. Uphill, downhill, doglegs both ways. Course is in excellent condition. Fairways are for the most part generous but the doglegs can take away some of your fun and make you work for what you get. Hit a straight ball or being able to move the ball at will and this is a good challenge for all.
Amazing conditioned course with elevation changes not found in Florida. Old style classic Florida course.
This review only concerns the El Campeon golf course. During our August visit, it was in very good condition. It is long with lots of hazards. Several of the island greens seem a bit unfair as a slightly off shot will roll off the back. Local knowledge helps as several of the greens are atop hills and not visible from the fairway, so what seemed to be a good shot often turns out to be not so good. OK for the average golfer, definitely not for the beginner, and a very good golfer can really have a challenge playing from the 7,000 yard tees. There is another (easier) course on-site, Las Colinas, which might be more friendly to a beginner, but it was closed during our visit.
Mission Inn has two 18 hole championship courses here, El Campeon, designed in 1926 by Charles E Clarke of Troon, Scotland, and Las Colinas designed in the 1990's by Gary Koch. El Campeon is the opposite of most golf courses in Florida, while there's some development along a few holes, it's mostly natural corridors or adjoining holes bordering. There's 85+ fee in elevation change, the fairways are lined by trees, and there's 13 holes with water in play, each hole is interesting and varied in its challenge. Las Colinas by comparison is a bit of your standard Florida resort layout, rather flat and featureless, frequent water and sand in play, a bit of a letdown after playing El Campeon.http://forelinksters.com/course/mission_inn_resort_club_howey_in_the_hills
This was the second year we rented a pontoon boat on the weekend of the fourth. We are 8 retired military and/or current DOD employees and spouses. Last year our pontoon boat was obviously taken out of storage because it was awful. I received a phone call and emails from Ben (a tremendously kind man apologizing and offering us a deal to come back this year...which we did). Imagine our surprise when we arrive to find it's pretty much the same boat that (as one of our riders put it) slapped a little lipstick on a pig. They have a new bimini top that's not torn and the cushions and such were stapled into place. I have photos of where our Capt. (Tony) had to hold the entire controls down to move the throttle back and forth and the cabinet under the front dash kept falling off. We were told last year that everything was going to be refurbished. We had no radio and DID not have a full tank of gas (which was our bad for not verifying before we left the dock) one of the seats actually fell in while I was sitting on it and underneath it was the old bimini top from last year. I appreciate the gesture in kind guys...but that pontoon just had a band aid put on it. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Beautiful golf course and incredibly challenging. The changes in elevation are unbelievable. I was shocked by the views. Play this course!
