My husband and I went stargazing with Linda, recently, and we had the most wonderful time. Linda is an accomplished astronomer and guide and helps novices (like me) find their way around a viewfinder. She is very knowledgeable, and would be great with any age group. I would recommend this attraction, to my friends.I got to see the moons of Jupiter! That was soooo cool! And, I got to see the new moon as a crescent, big and bright in the 10" telescope. I could see the craters. That was amazing! This would be a great outing for any category of visitor. It is great for Couples. It would be good for Families with young children, if they could stay up late. It would be great for families with Teens; the teens may discover they like this! This outing would definitely work for a group of friends. It would even be good as a solo outing. And, a business might want to do this as a team building exercise. It is an evening under the stars, where you can experience the night sky and the peace and quiet in the night. Linda supplies the telescopes.Linda has several locations in Southwest Florida to provide stargazing outings. The one we went to had access to clean restrooms. You'd need to bring your own snacks and beverages, and bug spray.
Linda is an amazing Florida guide. You well see things when you go on hike and trips with her you would never see trying to do it on your own. She really knows the flora and fauna of Florida and where to find it.
Linda's attention to detail is refreshing. Her knowledge of the native plants was inspiring. Our residents enjoyed the garden presentation. Thank you!!
I recently had my 1st experience hiking with Linda. What a pleasure that was as she pointed out different herbs along a path, flowers, birds and animal tracks. Linda truly is one with the land which she loves so much and has the knowledge to enhance your adventures with her. I'm looking forward to going along with Linda on another hike. I encourage you to call Linda and schedule your time to go along too. You won't be disappointed.
What better way to learn about the Flora & Fauna of Florida than with a Floridian? Linda is so knowledgeable about all the Native/ Non Native plant life. She can tell you the names of all the birds & butterflies and she is aware of her surroundings and doesn't miss a thing, She really takes the time time to educate you along the trail and she is informative about the pollinators, the plants they pollinate and the purpose that their role plays in supporting our delicate Eco System. Linda really enjoys being out in nature and sharing the experience with others. I will definitely be enlisting her services for a Star Gazing adventure, what a magical experience that must be with her knowledge of astrology and the night sky. Thank you Linda for a wonderful Floriday! ,
Thank you CapeC0ralLOver for your kind words. Yes, Florida IS sooo much more than malls and pavement! It was a pleasure to share and experience it with you. We never know what we will see out there via buggy or trail hike, or where discussion out there will lead. However it often times gets us back around to discussing Conservation efforts to save these precious natural resources for future generations. The Earth and Sky *are one* - an integral part of our living Earth.
Whether you already know a ton about the galaxy and nature or not, Linda's Star Gazing Adventures is a MUST for anyone who either lives or is visiting the SW Florida area. Truly fall in love with the outdoors and all you see and experience by seeing it through Linda's eyes and with her knowledge. She really brings things to life for you on a more personal level (especially with the use of her telescope). I would recommend this for solo adventurers, couples, families with kids, friends, groups, etc. Seriously, if you have ANY interest in the outdoors try this out!!
I remember when Linda came out to do a stargazing event for a large number of girl scouts in Sarasota. Linda handles the crowds well and brings smiles to everyone faces with the stars and planets that she can show you through her telescopes. Her knowledge about astronomy and the nature that surrounds you while your look thought the scopes make the trip that much more interesting. Don't ever pass up an opportunity to go star gazing with Linda! You'll make memories you'll never forget.
Our local homeschool group met with Linda at CREW in Immokalee, FL, for a star gazing trip. The kids loved learning about the different constellations and other information about the universe. They loved looking into the telescope and watching Linda point out the constellations, as well as the stories behind them. I would recommend this activity for any group...both kids and adults had a magical evening under the stars. We cant wait to do it again. Thanks, Linda!!
If you love the outdoors you need to take advantage of this adventure. Not only do you get to experience nature, but you also get to learn about the night sky that is above you. Perfect outing for the entire family!
Adventure is right. Ride out into the Big Cypress Preserve in a swamp buggy at night is a whole different world you rarely see. The sky is filled with stars. Her telescope brings them down to you. Linda not only knows about the night sky, but she is a first class naturalist and has a vast knowledge of the Florida wild. It is eco touring at it's best. Kids would love it. It is an amazing trip not to be missed.
Our adventure started with a ride in a swamp buggy through the Big Cypress Preserve, clear skies and a lot of excitement. The ride was pretty cool in itself, but the amazement came when Linda set up her telescope. She shared her knowledge of different stars and constellations, how to tell which direction you're going by the stars in the sky. The view through the telescope was amazing seeing the gases around the stars. Very educational!. I would recommend this trip for everyone and everyone, families, nature enthusiasts, lovers & honeymooners... What a romantic adventure! Our trip ended with a campfire, s'mores and cool stories and laughs and a buggy ride out of the Everglades all under a blanket of stars. Oh, I forgot to mention the night sounds, the owls! It was all around a great trip. Thanks Linda to you and your crew for such a great time, you made learning fun!Ruth
I've adventured with Linda Jacobson twice, and both times I came away with both fun memories and renewed respect for the magnificence of nature. On my most recent tour, in conjunction with Captain Steve's Swamp Buggy Adventures in the Big Cypress Preserve, this astronomer/nature guide/adventure leader brought along not just her giant telescopes, but also all the fixings for campfire s'mores, with a generous helping of laughter and camaraderie. We were mostly couples, but it would be great for families and young children. Highly recommended!
Have you ever looked up at night and seen what you thought were a lot of stars? Linda took us to a spot in the western side of the Everglades where the night sky took on a whole new meaning. Using her 10" telescope we were able to see plants, constellations, etc.. Linda gave an identity to things that we thought were just clusters of stars only to realize it was "The Milky Way". We accessed the site using Capt. Steve's Swamp Buggy Tours. While some of the group utilized the telescope, a campfire was lit and Capt. Steve provided us with a "fireside chat" that included a lot of history about the Everglades & Big Cypress National Preserve (western side of the Everglades). We loved & can't wait to book our next star gazing event !!!!!!
