winter garden heritage museum

What a delightful time we had visiting the Heritage Museum in Winter Garden. The staff are friendly and knowledgable and eager to share their live of the town. Definitely worth a stop.

This is a small museum, but good.There is no charge and we were greeted by a well knowledgeable volunteer. The museum is only 3 rooms but they are jam packed full of stuff.They had this fun game for my kids to play finding items in the museum. With playing in the caboose outside and looking in the museum we spent a of 20 mins.

Very impressed with my first visit to this museum. For starters, the volunteer who greeted me was super friendly and knew a ton about Winter Garden and its history. I was shocked to find admission is FREE (They do appreciate tips tho). There's a great movie to get you started. Tons of memorabilia, a caboose to explore outside, and a small souvenir shop. If you're interested in bass fishing, citrus industry, or Winter Garden history in general.. This is a good stop.

I went here with friends and was delighted with the way the museum was set out and the information given in each of the exhibition rooms, well worth the visit!

We happened to be in downtown for a walk on the West Orange Trail and stop at Axum Coffee and decided to pop into the museum as we walked by. There's no charge but plenty of interesting local history. Winter Garden natives take great pride in their community and that is evident in this little museum which will soon be moving to a larger setting next door. One of the back rooms is dedicated to the area's citrus industry with a brief continually running video. Those who have lived in Central Florida for awhile will recall the freezes that drove many out of the citrus business. Most children 10 and up should find the visit worthwhile.

This was fun to pop into, and see some of the artifacts that had been discovered in the area. The citrus history room was nicely laid out. The hostess was very nice, and greeted us warmly. School children were coming in for an assignment that had, so she was very quick to help them all. There's a kumquat tree in a planter outside with luscious little ripe fruits hanging off it. Pretty to look at, but mouth puckerin bitter!

Pleasant little museum full of interesting artefacts and information about the area. The curator was a very pleasant and helpful lady who was quite chatty and informative. No entry fee, but donations welcomed.

It might appear small but it has a lot to offer as a great insight into the local area around Winter Garden and the Orange growing business. Very pleasant greeting on arrival and lots of local history also verbally shared whilst we were there. It was free but you just had to give a donation,

Who knew there was so much history in a small town of Central Florida? Native Indian remains are found here. Rubber tires were first put on tractors here. Lake Apopka was once a major tourist attraction for bass fishing. More citrus was shipped from Winter Garden than anywhere in the country at one point. I could say more! Delightful museum in a charming little city.

Small, but has a lot of interesting information. Got great pictures of my family on some of the old tractors.

This is a small local museum worth visiting. it's free and worth the time to visit. It's in the center of town and has pictures and information on the city of Winter Garden. the people were very friendly and willing to spend time telling you about the museum.

Quite small and quaint, classed as a historic town. It has a ‘village’ feel to it and very friendly. Many café, bars and restaurants to choose from, only about 25 mins from Disney Island… but feels miles away. Worth a trip but you don’t need too much time there as it’s very small.

If in town, you should stop in because it's free (or make donation). It's a quick 15-minute walk through. I learned about the history of Lake Apopka. Other than that, nothing to rave about, lots of vintage memorabilia.

Enjoyed looking around at the memorabilia from the Hey day of the Orange production in the area.
