StarryStarryNight

Perhaps it was because we were there on a weekday, but we found the Gardens in particular to be a delightful escape from the world for a time. It was just the two of us as a couple, on a not too sunny, partly chilly mid-day. One of the things we enjoyed most was there was a little "surprise" waiting at every turn of the Garden path. The way it is laid out, and carefully landscaped and maintained, yet in a natural way rather than manicured. You can't quite see what's ahead and that is part of its charm. Our favorite thing and which I think was intriguing for me in particular was listening to the Bamboo treetruncks rubbing against one another in the slight breeze - something we had never heard before and would most likely have to travel out of country to find otherwise. Just a cool sound of nature I hope I can keep committed to memory. There is a delightful little pavillion you can step into to follow a spiral walk toward the center - my husband watched as I walked the path - the intent is that when you reach the center you will Zen out - which I actually did. I would have liked to stay there for much longer than permitted by my husband, and even taken a lunch and sketch pad as well. We are so hurried these days, we are all missing a lot of what is around us, and this place is a nice mini-retreat. The Art Exhibit, with gift display area is VERY small (at least for us, if you have been to as many museums, galleries, and public spaces as we have), with much wall space devoted to few works. However, every "gallery" space is different than the next, and this little building is entitled to its own character and feel, just as any other. Again, just part of the charm. We felt it to be time well spent.

Sweet little museum where we went for "Colored Pencil Society of America International Exhibition". Interesting setting of the works of art made by colored pencils. I'm sure they are not the pencils kids use. I liked few pictures very much. Museum itself is a one story building with few exhibit rooms and a little souvenir shop. Outside the museum is a beautiful garden with many sorts of flowers and a little waterfall, a fountain and lots of green bushes. There are a benches where you can sit and rest your mind. Interesting place.

The gardens around the museum are lovely and a wonderful oasis to escape the hub-bub on Granada Ave. There are lots of wonderful nook and crannies and an absolutely stunning little waterfall.

The gardens are like a little slice of lush exotic jungle right in the middle of Ormond Beach. Pretty little pond, lovely array of foliage. Nice walkways meander thru-out, making it seem as though the area is much bigger than it actually is. The museum is small & really didn't offer a great deal, even though the handmade jewelry alone was worth visiting. At the time of our visit, one entire gallery was taken up with textile art. Nice, but not enough variety. Aside from the textiles, we saw a bit of art here & there & several nice bonsais. Gardens are free; admission to the museum is $2 "donation."

The museum was nice but is pretty small. You can tour it in half an hour. The gardens and walkways are free and a nice way to spend an hour in the shade. It is very peaceful with a lot of foliage and ponds. It is a nice change of pace from the usual beach or hotel pool scene.

Not very garden like more rainforest the brick floors tear your shoes up! Not somewhere I would get married.

Beautiful little botanical gardens, located in the heart of the city. I love to steal away here from time to time, to walk around in the shade of the trees and see what's blooming. (And to check up on the snapping turtles in the pond up front!) It's a small place, only a few acres, but the dense foliage and winding trails make you feel like you're miles away. There is a large gazebo in the center which is a beautiful site for a wedding. In addition to the gardens, there is a small art museum on the grounds. Admission is either free or a small donation. They also have different festivals through out the year

We visited the art museum for the first time to see the colored pencil exhibit. It was an amazing selection of art from members of the Colored Pencil Society of America. I guess the national convention had just occurred in Daytona (which I missed). Anyway, the exhibit was flawless and exciting. The docents were informative and helpful. They have different exhibits every month, and they also offer a variety of art classes taught by local artists - I am taking a colored pencil class in December. In addition to the quaint museum, which is housed in a home, and includes a permanent collection in one section, donated by an art collector, there is a wonderful walking path through a lush botanical garden, with a waterfall and pond. I was told it is maintained as a labor of love, and you can certainly tell. We plan to visit on a regular basis in the future!

Took grandsons and they absolutely loved it. So did we. So much to see and some hands on for the kids.

This was a most fascinating, edifying museum stop, and the staff ladies were all so welcoming! The lush garden path stroll from the parking lot to the museum was an unexpected treat! Go! Quick!

Better get there soon. We went to see an exhibit of colored pencil works. Our friend had a drawing selected and we drove up from Boca Raton to see the show. The works were unbelievably beautiful. We had no idea that so much could be done with colored pencils. The exhibit ends 8/22/14. The museum itself is small, but is surrounded by lovely gardens. Daytona and Ormond have very nice beaches, but watch out for cars on the beach.

I love the scenery approaching the museum and the little fountain in front. It's so tranquil and relaxing. The museum hosted a showing of local high school artists. It was fantastic!

The art in the museum was very nice but the grounds are spectacular! A wonderful way to relax....so peaceful and all it costs is a donation!!

Truly a local art museum that let's you walk around (including the grounds) or just sit there and relax - nice and interesting collection of local stuff and wonderful, helpful staff - always bring our out-of-town visitors to enjoy this relaxing and quiet spot -

We found this small museum located next door to the Rockefeller home (which we were actually looking for). Nice local museum with changing themes but what we really loved were the gardens behind it. Easily accessed from parking areas, there is smooth walkway throughout the garden area. Turtle ponds, a large gazebo, memorials, waterfalls . . . what more could you ask for? This is truly a hidden gem! A wonderful, little quiet area, right in the heart of town.
