Had a great time at the Pickle Barrel. The band was fantastic. It gets very crowded as the night goes on and the dance floor is packed. It gets a bit rowdy toward the end of the night but it is fun. This is a great place to dance and have some drinks after a day of skiing, but there is a $20 cover charge most nights. It is worth it if you are there to party, if you want a quiet après ski, this is not the place for you.
Odds are you only want to hit one per night with a $20 cover and of course be aware each bar throws everyone out around 8:30 so they can collect a 2nd cover and reopen at 9pm. Anyway, Pickle tends to be a tad busier but Wobbly has a better and bigger dance floor if that is your thing that has room for more people and more room to spread out. Pickle has a dance pit that seems to be all guys. If i were a chick i wouldn't get into it either. Otherwise they are about the same, laid out the same and have similar bands. For the avoidance of doubt you want a cover band and not a band playing their original music so check who is playing at each.
I cannot believe it! I am so udderely disgusted with my experience at The Pickle Barrel in Killington, VT. We were cover charged $20 for a 2 cent cover band. The place was overflowing with beligerent drunks causing rucus and mayhem. The bouncers could have mixed better then their backwoods DJ. It was $10 for a half of a jager bomb and $20 for an uncooked plain cheese pizza. Absolutely disgusted with my experience here. NEVER GO HERE!!!
Enjoyed this bar on my first night in Killington. Amazing live music and dance floor. I got to show off my Country Western dancing skills. 8-)
Came here with a group of 12 guys and we were able to get right in with little problems. The $15-$20 cover charge is a little ridiculous but worth it. Two floors offer you plenty of room to dance and meet people. The line for drinks at the bar is minimal, especially upstairs, and the bands they have are really good. You certainly have to check this place out if you come to Killington.
A great night club with good music but standing in line in the cold for 30 minutes to get in??? There are nearby places without the sacrifice
This bar single give Killington it's nightlife. It's just that simple, great live bands, lots of people watching. About the only complaint is that the male/female ratio is out of balance but that's just the case with any bar next to a ski slope.
I live in Boston and I visit every year. The music is bumpin, the crowd is awesome, and best of all the employees. Special mention of Taylor the cashier she always has a huge on her face and a great attitude! I definitely recommend a visit to the Pickle Barrel is you haven't and if you have, go again!
The title about says it all. Our favorite bar in Killington. And probably our favorite bar. Anywhere. The music is always loud and the scene is always fun. Just don't come too late or you get stuck in line. And don't miss the mini skirt party
Im from Miami, so I did not expect much nightlife in Killington/Rutland, Vermont. However Pickle Barrel far exceeded my expectations! The place was PACKED, there was a live band, and they sang a great variety of music. Lots of space. Highly recommended.
My friends and I visited the weekend of 2/28 and decided to give the Pickle Barrel a second chance after receiving vouchers from Jax's that waived the cover. The girl collecting coats at the door was very friendly and funny. The bar staff was friendly as well and the drinks were reasonable. The band, Lost in Paris, was great. They sang covers, from rock to hip hop to R&B, they really mixed it up and got the crowd going. I'm glad that it was a good time, since I do really love the atmosphere in there. I would recommend going to anyone who is in the area that is looking to dance and have a good time, make sure to check their website or Facebook to find out if there is any entertainment going on.
Was beyond impressed with the trombone shorty show there last week. Seemed like a lot of locals, but also met people who had traveled from 2 hours away just for the show. Great venue, and the show was amazing! Excellent job all around.
Great location, less than 5 minutes from our hotel & there was no cover! (Surprising for a Saturday night WITH a band!) Maybe we got there before they charged? But we enjoyed the free coat check & drinks were reasonably priced. The dance floor is a little small but that makes for some interesting scenery! The PB is def. a good time, so make sure you stop on your next stay in Killington
Sure the $20 maybe a little steep but the market is bearing it as the place was packed last night. lots of loud music and intoxicated women (they were more entertaining than the band :)) Great fn place to have a few drinks after skiing. Last time I was here was 10 years ago....somethings never change...well the women are a little younger and I am a little older...
Ive been going here for 22 yrs so yes, I'm old. In "good ole 90's" the Bands played grunge/rock and so did the dj! We were on the dance floor the entire time there. Then something happen.. Still good bands for thevmost part but dj starts playing this awful stuff called dance music! Ow to the ears, a few yrs later, something else occurs,,the bands are now playing some ( only thank God) dance music too. Iif u r playing Britney /Christina/Bruno mars, etc, , you are not a Rock clu.!! (killington could use one of those - no dance music allowed) )But alas I keep trying as I have had SOO much fun there over the yrs. wish upstairs more mellow area was open Saturdays. We always go Fridays. Anysho, drinks are little pricey but won't kill ya. Never ate here,, I see pizza signs around. Security have been very helpful over yrs . If you are a young female, single, you'll love it as the guy/girl ratio is great ( was even better in 90s')
