This is a great place to fish, plus its full of nature. You'll see Canadian geese, deer, pheasants, rabbits, turtles, snakes, frogs, etc...plus a myriad of birds.
It's a little out of the way area just off Route 269, where folks fish and kayak. It's quiet and pretty, preferred by Canada geese.
Loved the great fishing. TThere should be bathrooms since it is a state park. More ranger patrols. More piers for fishing. One is not big enough. Need trash receptables to cut down on trash dumping. Otherwise very peaceful and secluded.
Great Large Mouth Bass fishing. Please abide by the size limits posted.Have seen Bald Eagles there many times.Be sure to use bug spray with Deet to keep the ticks at bay. They can be quite bad there.
This place is beautiful, but doesn't get lots of people. Pet friendly. I wouldn't walk here alone because it's so secluded feeling, but my husband and dog go all the time!!!
This area is quite extensive, over 2,000 acres to explore. If you like to fish or just enjoy nature, this is the place to go in Erie County, Ohio. We love to bike here, there are many side roads to follow, but keep a map handy. Also, biking here is fun, but drivers tend to cut through here (roads are public) and they may not be watching for bikes and some do speed through. We have seen osprey, lots of eagles, water snakes, hawks and lots of song birds in the spring. While here, go "across the street" and visit the Castalia State Fish Hatchery supplied with water from one of the area’s many blue-hole aquifers. A very unique place to visit.
