very nice setting , and building. quite rustic, all of the wine is $20 per bottle. about six , or eight miles down the road is another local winery, and their wines are as good , and only $12 to $15.
This is a small winery in the area of Mosquito lake in Trumbull County Ohio. The owners are very friendly and the wine is surprisingly good. They offer small plate dinners in a chalet style room with a huge fireplace. They have live music on the weekends and offer outdoor seating in the summer.
I didn't try the food here, but the wine tasting and overall experience was worth the trip. This is another of the pre-poured style tastings, which do receive some criticism, but in this context they work well. We showed up shortly after they opened at 4PM and although they weren't exactly ready to handle customers (I don't think they really get into the swing of things until 5 or so), we each ordered a tasting and it was ready soon. The atmosphere was one of the best of the surrounding wineries I've been to, the mortise and tenon architecture in the main building has an old fashioned charm, the fire place and loft are really adorable. The grounds offer plenty of room for large groups or just a private table for two on the porch. I purchased a bottle of wine, and although it was on the pricier end of what I'd like to spend, it was worth it. I would recommend this place.
This is just a wonderful place to go, with friends and for couples! There is plenty of seating, both inside and out. I love the past few time that we were able to sit outside by the fire on a cool fall evening. The wine is good and the staff is super friendly. The gentlemen at the front let us sample a few of the wines we were interested in so we could decide which we wanted to get bottle of. I believe the average price is around $19, and they will re-cork what you don't drink so you can take it with you. Every time we have visited it's been on a weekend and each time they have had some type of amazing live music, perfect for the mood! This last time the guy on the guitar was amazing!! We also love the fact that their menu is fairly priced, even their small plate of meat and cheese is very generous. This winery is such a nice addition to the area. A great place to go for people not wanting to be in a typical "bar scene" Visit just once and I'm sure you'll be back!
We had a bit of trouble finding the winery. A great first impression when we did! Lovely setting and buildings. Pretty landscaping. We went inside, a bit smaller than it seems. Beautiful building, and smelled so good. There were candles on tables inside. We went up to the counter and were not greeted for a while. We stood there kind of uncomfortable as we had never been there before. We were not sure what wine to try and was given a sample after I suggested it. We settled on a wonderful tasting wine. It was delicious wine, a bit pricey at $20 a bottle. We sat outside and enjoyed our wine and left. I doubt we will be back, the customer service needs a bit of work here. Didn't try any food, wasn't really discussed or suggested. The menu looked limited. We were hungry but decided to go elsewhere and have another glass of wine and a meal.
Don't bother making a reservation here even if you have the required "10 or more" people. We had a reservation for 15 people coming from Sharon, PA, and when we all arrived they told us our table was not available because another (larger) group needed more tables. This is not how you handle a situation like this! You explain that a reservation has been made requesting that table and the additional people who showed up will have to sit in a different location. Our group went specifically to hear the music that night as most of us know or are related to the band members. Since the band was playing outside, we specifically asked for a table outside on the patio, but since the other group claimed our table, we were told we had to sit inside. SERIOULSY?! It's pretty hard to see and hear the OUTSIDE entertainment from INSIDE! This has happened to us before at this place. We have asked for a reserved table, but they just seat whomever shows up first regardless of a "reservation." Some of us ended up sitting outside at a fire ring on wood benches almost behind the band. This may be our last time here. The food here is good: sandwiches, a couple kinds of pizza, salads. The wine is good, but expensive for a local winery. All bottles are $20.
So I happened upon this quaint little winery while making my cheese deliveries one day. The "canvas", a gorgeous rolling landscape; the "art", two meticulously designed buildings surrounded by beautiful landscaping including, but not limited to; vineyards, gardens and opulent views of the neighboring valley. Breathtaking , to say the least. I had a hunch that this would be a great place to enjoy my 11th anniversary with my wife. I was a bit hesitant, though, because the menu was modest and, after all, I didn't want to limit my wife's choices on such an important occasion. After a subsequent visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Keith, the owner. He showed me around the inside of the main building and explained what goes on there any given night. He is a very intriguing, interesting and multitalented individual, whom I found to be an extremely kind and polite soul, as well. I knew we had to go here after meeting him. Fortunately, my hunch was spot on. We had the Chicken Kabob dinner. It came with rice pilaf and warm rolls. Everything was cooked to perfection. I had a salad, baguette and hot peppers while my wife sampled some wines, perfect. I had the Molten chocolate cake for dessert, while my wife enjoyed the caramel apple pie. Both were exceptional. Of course, I tried both. By the way, the coffee was excellent, also. My wife said I had made a superb selection. She wants to bring her friends up for girls night out. Keith chatted with us and took our picture for us, plus gave us a tour of the stone building that he was putting the finishing touches on. He did all the stonework himself, a must see, amazing craftsmanship! Keith is surrounded by an awesome hardworking and courteous staff. I am so glad we did this, as was my wife. What a great anniversary. Thanks Keith. See you soon.
