schedel gardens and arboretum

This beautiful garden and arboretum on 100 acres was a home until 1991. The Schedels left it to the foundation to operate as a public gardens upon their deaths. The Schedels were world travelers and brought back ideas for their gardens from each country they visited. There are themed areas throughout the property, such as the Japanese Garden. There are blooms throughout the garden in every season, making it a great place to visit any time of the year. The estate is well hidden in the farming town of Elmore, Ohio and is located near the Ohio turnpike exit for the town. I have lived in the area my whole life and just finally visited the gardens during a recent music and arts festival held on the property. So glad I finally went there. A reception center on the site is offered to the public for events such as weddings and large receptions. This large center also houses a gift shop, offices, gallery and more. Very worth a stop. If you are traveling on the turnpike it would be a wonderful place to stop and take a break from the road and refresh your mind before driving further.

I had my wedding at Schedel's and go back any chance I get. The grounds are beautiful and it is ever-changing. I would recommend Schedel's to anyone!

Absolutely lovely everywhere! Meticulous landscaped gardens, awesome Japenese garden area & lots of sculptures. Perfect place to visit on a beautiful spring or summer day. Very relaxing.

This is a gem in what may considered an out-of-the-way location. It is certainly worth the visit to see the lovely gardens. I thought springtime was particularly gorgeous.

Colors are beautiful all year round. Lots of lovely areas to walk and sit.Great photo ops. Lots of wedding background areas. Quiet and restful type of place.

If you love the beauty of nature you will not be disappointed with a visit to these gardens. Everything is beautifully arranged and cared for. Well worth a trip out there. Take your camera!

Small, but very beautiful garden with Japanese bridge and lots of unusual plants and trees. Most things were labeled. They were just starting to plant the annuals and I'm sure they are gorgeous now.

Beautifully appointed two-level flower/plant/tree presentations. Weeds are not allowed to grow! Golf carts can be rented to accommodate visitors who would find it difficult to walk the grounds a917 acres)./

This is an example of the caring for nature of the Schedel family. Lovely place for an afternoon visit.

This is a nice quiet setting, not overly large, but good for a nice hour stroll in the garden. A wonderful setting for a wedding!

It was so peaceful, quiet and gorgeous. The grounds were maintained perfectly and it was all spotless. Very enjoyable.
