We stopped here for some mussels and enjoyed them immensely; however, the waiter was obviously ill and was sweating, coughing and sniffling. It was so bad we were thinking of not eating and leaving but we had already sent the order back before he got to us. With his being sick, his service was a bit off compared to the service we had received on prior visits.
The ice wine at Ferrante is poetry in a glassmost of the wines are very goodCelebration Spice is very niceThe prices are fair for the wines
We will never return. Service was something a local greasy spoon would offer. The wine had no body and a funny after taste. The dishes were over seasoned and oiled. Sorry I made friend drive an hour for this.
The Ferrante Winery is one of the fancier wineries in the Geneva area. We had the opportunity to taste a tray of 11 different wines (they had more). After the wine tasting we mulled around the store where they sold a variety of wine and wine related items. We then enjoyed an Italian dinner in their restaurant. The dinner was very good and the desert was excellent.
It's kind of hard to review this place because it is a winery and a restaurant, but on both sides of the house they score well. The winery is setup to handle a large volume of people, so while the per-poured tastings aren't optimal, they do speed up the whole process, some other wineries in the area are under-staffed at the tasting counter and you spend a long time waiting for a pour. Overall, I can't say I was in love with their wines, but they were affordable and good enough for a day out tasting. The restaurant offered fine fare at a reasonable price, we had 6 people, a bottle of wine and some other drinks and it came out to a little over $200.00. The specials and regular menu items were all well received by our party. Spaghetti and meatballs, stuffed salmon, filet mignon, and manicotti were all excellent. My only criticism for the atmosphere of the place is the table/dining room arrangement. A couple of white tablecloths would go a long way in making the place feel a little more upscale. The place is setup to handle large groups well, but could also be cozy for just a couple, I would recommend it.
Did not dine this time, and stopped in to try the wine...recommendation to wineries, pre-pouring wine creates an off-putting taste in your wine samples...every wine had a strange taste... We tried two wines which were poured directly into glass which didn't have same taste... And we actually bought the two wines that weren't pre-measured
Very nice place. Heated porch to take the chill off the cool fall evenings. They have entertainment alot of the weekends.
We stopped and did a sampler tray with garlic bread. Garlic bread was very good & broke up the different wines. We came away with 2 bottle of wine that we know we like
After a disappointing visit to a nearby winery, my girlfriends and I stopped by Ferrante. The people were friendly, the wine was fantastic (Celebration Spice - YUM), and the grounds were beautiful. I highly recommend this winery.
I had the steak salad, which was very well balanced with flavors but my steak was very tuff, lil disappointed. Service was so so, the server seemed very streesed out.
The wine is excellent. That's what got them started and continue to make them wonderful. But do you want a fantastic dinner to go along with the wine? Then stop here. They have the best Italian food in the area. I will travel here for special occasions because it is so good. On the weekends expect a wait but it is well worth it
My husband and I always stop when we are traveling through to NY. The location is quick off the exit, a beautiful setting, and the food and wine keeps us coming back. We have stopped numerous times over the years and have a great experience every time. We always take a couple bottles of our favorite wine and the candles are awesome, great gifts too. If you have the time just a couple minutes down the road is a beautiful covered bridge.
This resturant has a history with the family growing there own grape vineyards & making wine! The food here is upscale alittle pricey but worth it! In the summer time you can go outside & listen to music under pavilions!
This was a great little stop on the wine trail, but boy was it busy!! We did a little tasting, decided on a bottle then went outside to a table. The scenery is fantastic and they had live entertainment to add to the ambiance. We ordered a pizza to cut the edge of all the wineries we had been to, and it was honestly one of the best pizzas ever. The crust is wonderful and there are ample toppings to boast about. I would have love to stop here again on our adventure, but sadly we didn't have time. Will definitely be back some day.
We had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. The food was unique and delicious, the wine, excellent. They had live entertainment outside, which was a delightful way to spend the afternoon. Staff was attentive and informed. This place is worth the trip. FYI, there is a covered bridge nearby.
