This building is breathtakingly beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit! Please be courteous if you visit and respect the historic and architectural value of Fort Piqua. Many restrooms are locked due to vandalism. The building has obviously been recently renovated with beautiful updates made to the public restrooms with beautiful classic subway tile and simply tasteful, functional fixtures. The lobby is picturesque and was decorated beautifully for the holidays. The huge mirror in the lobby is amazing. The children's library in the lower level is especially magical. The upstairs library featured a special exhibit, this time a gallery of local art. Very cool. I also visited Winan's, which is attached to the library and also located in the Fort Piqua building. The threshold from the library to Winan's has an entrance notification alarm that sounds extremely loudly whenever someone crosses the Winan's/Library line, I assume also to protect library property and prevent theft on both sides. This is kind of sad. I love the history and architectural beauty of this place- I really hope all visitors recognize the value of the building and treat it like the gem it is!
very convenient to the hotel was great and location was perfect for anything you wanted, food or just relaxing!!!
I want to express my complete satisfaction to the organization of my daughters wedding recently. The banquet room was beautifully decorated and was enough room for the ceremony and reception for 150 guests. The referrals the offered for catering and the bar downstairs did a wonderful job! Hats off to the organizer/director! She was very pleasant and accommodating to the mother of the bride! ME! I could not be any more pleased with the evening and all the arrangements that took place! Thank you for making my daughter and new son-in-law's day a beautiful one!
Excellent food and reasonable prices, You might also try suie,s ice cream parlor on main st in piqua.
The old 1891 Hotel Plaza has been completely restored and renovated. Today it holds Winans coffe and chocolate store, Mulligan's restaturant, the Piqua Public Library and a fourth floor conference center. If you enter the Library, you are treated by not only books, audio-visuals and computers, but also a wonderful art collection, historical displays and a great genealogical and archival collection. The main lobby, with a huge fireplace and stained glass skylight was a great place to sit and read, drink some coffee and just take a brief break while visiting Piqua. Located in the downtown area, the Fort Piqua Plaza is a great historical treasure where presidents have spoken from the balcony, a civil rights sit-in occured in 1946 and ghosts are rumored to still inhabit the buidling.
