great unexpected adventure. Great family fun or for couples.across the street is a winery. if you like exploring this is a great place to go, and it doesn't take up much time and is very inexpensive.
My husband and I took our bikes and we rode bike on the island and I am so glad that we stopped here to see the crystal cave.It did not cost much ( $2.00?) and was very interesting and beautiful!
In the last 5 years or so put in Bay has added quite a few tourist attractions. So if you're staying for just a day hit the highlights. Rent a golf cart and drive around enjoy the views. I highly suggest the two cave tours. . They're not that big are not that spectacular but they're still nature on display.
The cave itself is interesting and a neat site-seeing adventure. The steps down into the cave a very steep and may be difficult to maneuver for elderly or small children. Once in the cave, the ground is wet and ceilings are low, but there are clearly marked paths and landmarks. The cave is also fairly well lit so that you can see. The whole thing takes about 20min but the guides are informative and give some history and point our landmarks. When we were finished in the cave, we also did the putt-putt at this location which was fun but fairly busy since it is about the only one around.
Neat and kinda freaky to be in a 7 foot cave at sea/lake level. Other activities at the location to keep you occupied if you have to wait for the hop on/off bus.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the cave and was careful to caution when to watch your head. Very interesting to see, though you do need to be careful of steep stairs and low ceilings since it is a cave.
Very interesting although a bit difficult for some to manouver, with low ceiling, wet uneven ground and tricky stairs. BUT--it's a cave!! The guide was excellent, extremely well informed.
A real cave, cool & damp walk through is so refreshing on a hot day! Caves are so interesting! I go here every time I come to Put In Bay! Very fun for the whole family!!! Plus a very fun gift shoppe also! Love it!
Perry's Cave was a quick, yet interesting and unique experience. Once you get to the bottom of the steep, skinny stairs, you're about 50ft. below ground-level and among stalagmites & stalactites that are really old and neat to look at. The guide shows you around as you stay on the "trail" and tells facts and tidbits about your surroundings. The tour isn't very long (about 20 minutes?) which is perfect because not many people enjoy being in a "condensed" space (I had to duck down a bit for most of the time). All in all, I'd say if you're on the island, you should definitely check this cave out!
I have literally been going here since I was five years old. (31 now) I've always enjoyed the cave. I always make it a stop if I'm with someone who hasn't been to the island before. The only problems I have with it is it seems to be getting smaller. I remember when it was really tall, and HUGE. However, I went there again last month and it I had to bend over the whole time. (Ok... fine. I'm taller.) Seriously though, last month was the fist time I've been there in a long while. Maybe fourteen years or so. I thought the tour took you around back, and down deeper into the cave. However, when this last month we stopped at the pool and then turned around. I may be mistaken, but I think they shortened up the tour. Anywho, it's still a good time.
We bought the 4 attraction package. We did the Butterfly House, Maze, and Mini Golf. The kids really enjoyed the maze and the golfing. The butterfly house was a miss. We didn't have time to get back to see the cave, you have to stop by and get a time to go through, it's a guided tour. *Tip* You don't have to use all of the attractions all on one day, so you can always go back if there isn't enough time. We just ran out of time and were unable to get back.
It was my first time seeing a cave of any sort. It was a tad boring as many of the caves features had been destroyed long ago. Our group had about 20 people and one highly annoying tour guide who was making jokes and talked about things non related to the cave. She was unable to some answer questions about cave. 30 minutes of bad jokes and non stop talking for 8 bucks a person was not really worth it.
We toured Perry's Cave August 6, 2014. We found the tour rather unimpressive and really not worth the admission price. The tour lasted maybe 30 minutes and was just one large underground room. All the stalagmites or stalactite’s had been removed or damaged years ago. I do not recommend this tour unless you’re looking for a cool place on a hot day; the temperature is a constant 50 degrees. .
Unfortunately, my husband and I did not vist this Cave or the Crystal Cave. To see the cave's is a separate fee. In the past you just walked thru with a group. Since we have visited the cave's in the past this was not a must see for us. If you have never been here before then I recommend that you visit the cave's at least once. It can get a little pricy paying for every attraction separate when it is $7.00 and $8.00 for every place you visit.
Perry's cave was interesting and not a super long tour so good for even the little ones. The super saver pass was a good deal because there are many family friendly activities at the site. Getting tickets was a bit confusing, could have been more organized with better signage. Would recommend.
