I had the opportunity to visit the Lake Erie Historical Society during my recent stay on the island. I took my 8 year old son with me and he enjoyed it almost as much as I did. The volunteers who run the museum are so kind, and they accept 1.00/off coupons that you can get at the island visitors center. The museum has all sorts of artifacts from the island's history, including many items from the ill-fated Hotel Victory. They also have an extensive maritime and model ships collection. Be sure to see the island history video before you tour the museum-it is quite informative.Don't forget to stop by the Historical Society resale shop while you are at the museum.

We showed up on a rainy Saturday afternoon only to learn the Museum was closed because of the wine festival going on that day. The woman who talked to us was sorry, but said the Museum would be open later in the week. When we explained were we from Virginia and would be leaving the next day, she quickly opened the door and invited to look around as much as we wanted. The museum was great and the displays and explanations terrific. But, what we will remember most about our visit was the warm hospitality and friendliness of the staff member who invited us in out of the rain.

it was filled with lots of different things and gave a true feel of all the island has been through. The flag from the Lawrence brig from the Battle of Lake Erie was humbling.

Very interesting and well done. There are a lot of artifacts and large postcard collection. Life on the island must have been challenging for those first settlers.

A great collection of island history! Don't miss it....and all ages will be fascinated with their collections! Be sure to check the bargain barn in back.....more treasures for you to take home!

Enjoyed the presentations; film and history. Clean, with very helpful volunteers and staff. Love to show off with out of town family and friends

Enjoy a nice break from the sometimes hectic scene at Put-In-Bay. This small museum is a treat. You'll find displays on the Victory Hotel, Ford Tri-Motor air service, Lake Erie excursion ships of the early 1900's, the 1950's sports car road races, and many other facets of island life. The staff are very helpful and will show a nice video on demand. Don't miss this museum if you're at Put-In-Bay for the Battle of Lake Erie Bicentennial celebration.

A perfect break in your day to sit and watch a short mvie about the island in an air conditioned room. Displays are informative and well done.

A lot of island and Great Lakes history here. Hidden away on a small alley, but just ask around if you can't find it. Make sure to check it out.

All I know about this place is that you can get free bait and fishing poles for the kids to fish off the pier......

A nice place to hide while boating on Lake Erie but much nicer when there ar fewer boats and people.

This museum is tucked away and is smaller than I expected. There are lots of ship models along with some other memorabilia. Valuable space was taken with the gift shop which really didn't do anything for me.

Another great stop on your visit to the Island is the Historical Society. This building is behind the Brewery and conains a vast historical view of SBI and the lake area.
