tualatin hills nature park

We live in Beaverton and enjoy taking the kids here regularly. The very small little museum seems to always draw their attention. A walk around the trails is a great way to get in a little movement. We often take umbrellas and go for a "rain walk". I have taken binoculars to "spot" wildlife which the kids promptly used to study a big slug up close :-) We have seen deer, one even with a large rack, slugs, snails, newts, and squirrels. As an adult, we sometimes forget how these "normal" things excite the kids.We have also participated in some of the programs they offer from a night hike to hear the owls and coyotes, to the kids attending a week long summer camp sort of program. All have been very interesting and have gotten the kids excited about their natural surroundings.

The best thing about this park is that it's mostly just nature. The trails are clearly marked and go through a lot of terrain, including boardwalks through wetlands, and paved and unpaved trail through woods. I've been there with school field trips for preschoolers, second graders and sixth graders, but most times it's pretty quiet and peaceful. Great for walking or biking. One caveat: it's naturally pretty dark in there even on sunny days because of the maturity of the trees.

Great trails, many are handicap accessable. Very flat, but very quiet. Bikes are supposed to yeild to walkers (and do, for the most part). The good news/bad news is no pets. It has been my experience that most people in this area are pet responsible, so not really sure why they are excluded from this park. Signage for this park is very good, so you can walk for a few minutes, or lots of time, depending on your desire. Added bonus, restrooms are available, and most of the time, pretty clean!

I love wandering in this park. The trails are well marked, and it's quiet and beautiful. I get lost in thought here regularly. It's one of the parks that doesn't allow dogs, however, which is the only down side for those of us with fur babies. Be careful in the winter as some of the planked walkways can get really slippery!

Easy to pop in for a quick restore and appreciation of the things we sometimes take for granted here in the beautiful lush green N.W. The Nature center is a fun browse and nice that their are benches along the way to sit for a moment and take it all in. So nice to have this spot close to home. Enjoy!

love to walk through here and see the nature, good for bird watching as well, many deer live in here as well.

Love the paths that are much like forest trails. So many native plants and a store/nature museum to learn more about backyard success using northwest plants. Lots more as well.

Great place to get out of the heat and enjoy the quiet. Parking lot may be full and there may even be a school bus sitting there but this park is so large you may never meet a soul. Several benches to rest on and enjoy the quiet. This spring we watched woodpecker parents care for their eggs and then their young for several weeks. Great place to take young children. Clean washrooms.

Nice outdoor experience to share with others. I love the paths through the woods. You never know what critter you might meet. I enjoyed seeing a doe and fawn at the edge of the woods. What a "Nature" surprise as it is so close to the city. This is a great place on a warm day to cool off. Great information center too.

I did not know this place before my dad was coming.He searched this place to take a walk.We had great time and felt more fresh than ever.It's safe place.

This paved and unpaved filled preserve is a great place for Beaverton area families to wander, see local flora and fauna, and get out of the house and into nature without having to pack any hiking gear. All trails are well marked and the nature center/activities hub is seemingly always buzzing with kid friendly tours and activities. park staff also keep the trails clean and debris/hazard free. This is a great place for young and old alike. Recommended!

The bird watching here is delightful. Many species of birds and it's quiet enough to hear the bird songs. Going here for a shaded walk in nature is also lovely but the main attraction is the abundant plant and bird life.They do have a nature store with wonderful books. Often the Tualatin Park rangers are out and answer questions or lead specific tours. Lovely to have such green space in this area.

This place is very unexpected.....in the middle of busy Beaverton, is this oasis. Walking into the park you so find yourself in a beautiful wooded area and the noise of the streets disappear. The paths are not very well marked, you really need to watch for signs, if you care about staying on one path that is, the park is not so large that you can get terribly lost. some paths are paved some are not. The walking is easy and flat....very important to know.

In the middle of the city, but once you're there you don't realize that.A great place to get away for a while, and actually be in nature.Just be warned, no dogs allowed. (and at least on their signs and website, no exceptions for service animals either...)

One of my favorite things to do is to walk through the woods of the state, you know the green areas that aren't being needlessly developed into more apartment complexes and homes that will sit empty, or more business centers that, again, will sit empty. The nature parks in the area are nice, although I wish they were a bit longer. This is a good area to walk and view some nature.
