This casino is fun, the staff is terrific, the rooms are immaculate, and the food at the Legends Restaurant is fantastic. Nothing to dislike!
I'm not really what I'd call a Casino person. I don't play the poker or blackjack tables but I will throw some money away on slots. We came down with another couple to catch Jay Leno and arrived a couple of hours early to get something to eat and play some slots. Not being a smoker and not spending any time in places that are smoker friendly, I recommend bringing some eye drops. My wife had some and they hit the spot. They do have non-smoking areas (which I think are access areas, hallways and maybe restaurants) but the residual is still there. Being a firefighter, I did notice they have a pretty good ventilation system so there are no "layers of smoke" but if you're not used to it, come prepared.FOOD: We had a bite at the sports bar and I have to say I didn't expect much but I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. Excellent fries and decent portions too. We were served by Mary and she was quick, polite and knowledgeable. She also checked back with us frequently to make sure everything was okay. This bar sits kind of right out in the open so you can people watch too. Lots of variety on the screens and I didn't really need to strain my head one way or the other to see at least 6 different sports going on. They even had one channel on the Oscars!SLOTS: Maybe it was the day/time but we did pretty good on the slots. What I found odd though is we had to search high and low for quarter slots. It seemed the vast majority of the slots were penny slots with a few nickel and dimes, but we found a separate room with dollar slots. My wife put in a few bucks and hit a $100 winner. I didn't believe her until she showed me the slip. Well, I went over to some other machine (not really in the same area) and hit the exact same amount after spending a total of 50 cents! Paid for our show and gas probably. It's no Vegas but I think it's the biggest tourist attraction in Oregon now, surpassing natural beauties like Multnomah Falls and Mt. Hood. All in all, pretty fun if you don't mind the smoke.
Came for the night to see the Jay Leno show, stayed in the lodge and dined in the buffet. The Leno show was fantastic. As always, the casino is a lot of fun, not too smokey and the staff is attentive and friendly. We love the Sex and the City slots and the Wonka slots. Also had a great time at blackjack. The dealers were funny and personable. The casino is nicely laid out and easy to access from the lodge. We've been many times and will definitely be back.
I'm a gambler by nature and have spent many hour/days in casinos in the past and a few since. I'm a poker and Blackjack player, (table) but I don't like face up blackjack so I never played. I did humor my wife however and sat with her to play some machines. The poker machines are very tight and I mean tight. $20 went through like water through a downspout. They do have many many penny and nickle slots and games of every kind except Blackjack machines so you can play for awhile without losing much. The casino has smoking and non smoking areas with actually very well filtered air. Drinks on floor, Keno and all the usual comforts, food, drinks and games. My wife gives it four stars I give it three. IMO they should change to face down Blackjack and add tables. Even if I wanted to play there were no empty chairs except for the $50-$500 table. Another upside of the whole complex was the parking lot, it was patrolled by both vehicle and bicycle security personnel.
Don't go to gamble the machines are VERY TIGHT I've been now 6 times and wasted more then I care to divulge. I will probably never go back since the machines are so tight - you're better off going to your local watering hole and trying your luck. Even vegas would have been less expensive!
I am not bitter that I lost. I expect that when I am at a casino. I expect a few crabby people and workers as it is not a lot of fun to be in a smoke filled, people puking, and losing their money environment. I think the most memorable part of my experience is when I was in the bathroom and a security officer had come to check on a customer. Someone had complained that the guest was taking too long in the bathroom. The security officer had to ask if the customer wanted an ambulance. The guest responded by explaining they had eaten at the buffet and now had to poop a lot. They wanted the customer to sign paperwork that stated they were refusing medical care. The rest of the evening I stopped drinking the free soda as I didn't want security to come after me if I peed too much. I walked around to the different machines and played cards. Most of the card dealers were super nice. I felt sorry for them though. Their supervisors were jerks. I am surprised anyone wants to work in a place like this and be treated in this fashion. While staying at the hotel I overhead the staff talking about having to put a room out because of bed bugs. After this last experience I realized that gambling really is better at the beach.
We have enjoyed our many trips to Spirit Mtn Casino with the fine buffet, large gaming rooms, smoke free areas And Most of all, The Great Poker Room. We even have Spirit Mtn busses a few days a week for free 2 hour trip to this fine facility It has been going quite awhile But we just discovered it this past week. And did a 4 hour visit last Wed. & 7 hour this past Sunday. The Sunday bus goes from the Pdx area about 9 AM & returns about 6 PM. Their website has ALL times and days, etc. With Southwest Air No longer going PDX to Reno direct in 90 min and elect to go thru Vegas or Phoenix and a 4 hour trip, we have quit Reno except for opening College FBall week end. And Have found an Excellent Casino in our own area with free ride there! We have tried all other NW AREA Casinos and know when we have found TheBest of ALL!! Outstanding dealers as in Reno But so much easier and accessible from home! They have tournaments & top hand payouts on Sundays. Large Bad Beat payouts also. Nice trip of about 2 hrs each way and with IPODS & Moody Blues, what more could we want since football is done now. Highly recommend to all for the Tops in gaming we have found.
This is a fun place to go as long as you remember it's for fun sometimes you get lucky sometimes you make a donation.
Stopped here coming back from the coast, headed for Bend. Had their breakfast buffet - very tasty, and at $9.95 a real bargain. Stayed for about half an hour to play a few slots, won a couple of bucks. Nice clean place, not a smoky as a lot of other Indian casinos we've been in. I'd definitely go back!
Been here more times than we anticipated in our Oregon stay, which indicates our opinion! Great value in the buffet, more choices than anyone can eat at one sitting in my opinion. Plenty of gambling tables are available and staff are friendly and helpful . The machines are very popular and seem to be paying out regularly, we had no complaints! Surprised at the lack of smokers, but the odd one or two were a nuisance.
After seeing some of the negative reviews, I had to leave my humble opinion. This place was a blast. I had a beautifully furnished deluxe king, non-smoking room. $109 was reasonable for the quality of the accommodations. Folks that think this is pricey need to get out more. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The casino was fun and clean. Yes, there is some smoke in the air but overall the casino does a good job with air circulation. The slots were not paying very well when I was there so I switched to blackjack. I had a blast!!!! I played 4 or 5 different tables with numerous dealers. The dealers were professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Several of the dealers were even kind enough to offer advice. I played with some great folks until 3am.The food was excellent and affordable at the Sports Bar and Summit lounge. Drinks other than beer however are a little pricey. I did not dine at Legends or the buffet. I was always served quickly and friendly. People that say the staff are unfriendly should probably smile and be more friendly themselves. So you don't think I have an investment in the casino, I'll give you my opinion on making this a better place. (1) Loosen up the slots (2) More wait staff on the floor (3) Lower the drink prices. These three items kept my review from being a solid 5 star.I will be back!!!!!! Dave
I always take about 20 dollars and pull out at this casino halfway to the beach every time I'm on my way out there. Because I know that when I go in there I'm going to have a nice buffet or a nice meal at a reasonable price I can do a little bit of gambling without going crazy and then I can head on to the coast. I love the casino experience and I don't know why it is it seems that they attract all the smokers in the world and I'm not totally anti smoking everybody has a right to decide for themselves but they have never figured out a ventilation system that gets it out of the year. But even a side from that I always have a great time when I visit this casino and people are very nice to me there. & I have won a few dollars going through there I think we're probably about even steven of those. Its just a nice break in the middle of your drive to the beach. Get something to eat play a few slots and hit the road. I recommend you stop off nice casino.
Liked the hotel and its employees also the security is nice and knowledgeable but the floor people and the slot machanics need people classes badly. They were in line for something and the employees were rude to the people and they were rude to us the night before.
The casino is fairly large and continues to change. I have been heading down here about 2-3 times a year for the past 16 years to play. I am not a heavy gambler, and usually only bring a few hundred dollars, but I have walked out of the casino with several times my money in the past, and of course, left with no more money in my wallet. I think the slot machines are pretty fair at returns, unlike some other Oregon casinos. I do wish they had more old school $1 machines & less 100 line penny machines, but that is how the age of technology works I guess. Will continue to go for some cheap entertainment.
Great Casino. We have been to several others and none compare. It's not TO smokey and the machines are new and upbeat. A lot of other casinos have outdated machines. The floor attendants are friendly and housekeeping is right on top of keeping the trash off the floor. This is our destination for a good time out away from the kids:)
